who is the number one poker player right now?

Do you mean in the world? In this forum? In my house?

It is me of course. _evil:

I like Tom Dwan, he has made a bit of a loss in the past year, but from watching him play he seems the most promising. Gus Hansen is always solid, but not sure if he is the best. It is a very speculative question. You could decide it by so many factors.

Darwin Moon.

Is he not? :f_eek:

Gus Hansen is far from solid.

Best player is probably Nanonoko. That guy is sick.

I think Ivey is overall the best all-around player in the world. Patrik Antonius is probably the only guy on par with Ivey. Then there are many very good players, who are better than Ivey in one particular game, but can't really beat him in HORSE or 8-game, like Tom 'Durr' Dwan.

GRAILER !! obv ...

i think the best live player in the world is someone that nobody has ever heard of, just sitting quietly in a casino somewhere taking craploads of money off tourists.

Yeah... it's impossible to say, because it's so subjective unless you attach specific criteria (which in itself is subjective).

My favourite is Daniel Negreanu though... both for playing skills and personality, but there are lots of players that I like for different reasons.

I'm starting to wonder how good some of the TV-players actually are. A lot of them just played the WSOP and won it for a fabulous amount, and now they can play for a lot of time with the big boys and because of the swings and the slow live game you can't even figure out if they are losing or not.

Darvin Moon won like 3m, didn't he? He's got the money to play in Poker After Dark or High Stakes Poker or something... Is he good of something? I guess not.

The best should theoretically be Helmuth (and i actually think he plays well, see him vs Dwan in PAD K5 vs K2, that was the greatest hand i've ever seen; even though he can raise Q2s UTG for some reason), but it's again tricky because he won bracelets in hold'em and you asked about poker in general.

So i trust more the online players.
