I am not sure, but I think it is a fold. And if it is, what range to push here?

Hand converted with online PokerStrategy.com hand converter:

Play hand

$400/$800 No-Limit Hold'em (5 handed)

Known players:
[tg]BU$4525.00:///////;BB$3990.00:///////;MP2(Hero)$2685.00:///////;MP3$5185.00:///////;CO$3615.00:///////;[/tg]

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with Q:s, K:d.
MP3 raises to $5,160.00, 3 folds, Hero calls $2,660.00.

Flop: ($7820) 7:d, J:d, 4:s (2 players)

Turn: ($7820) 2:s (2 players)

River: ($7820) A:d (2 players)

Final Pot: $7820.

This is an interesting one, I would base my decision on the reads I have about villain.

Are you actually the BB in this hand, because you can't act after MP3 if you are MP2?

If you are BB, then this could be a call at this blind level.

Yes I was actually on BB. So rather call than fold?

Yeah, under those circumstances, I think calling here is right.

You fold now, and you have 2BB left and you are paying the SB next.

After the shove by big stack, there is effectively 3885 chips in the pot, and you have 1885 left, giving you 2:1. That is probably enough reason to call with KQ. You can be flipping against pairs, or in many 40/60 spots.

Add to that your loss of any future FE, I think this is a spot where you have to gamble.

Alright, thanks. Usually it would have been an instacall without thinking and I wouldn´t have posted the hand here. But my goal is to get a better knowledge of ICM and I try to add situation-based decisions into the basic ICM push I have done so far. It is not the best to follow ICM blindly every time especially when you are near to ITM, right?

Well, I'm no expert either, and the hand judge will have the final say.

But yes, there are circumstances where making what would be a -ev play according to ICM are necessary.

You aren't actually near the money here, one more to go before the bubble, but I think that is more reason to call, not less. Because you have 2BB if you fold this hand. So you would have to be all in next hand, having put half a blind in.

Let's see what our judge says about this.

Hi all,

Converter doesn't look great but yes you should be calling here. We're still "far" from the money and we put in way too much of our chipstack preflop in the blinds for us to fold.
