I'm new to PLO myself as well, but I definitely see no point in betting the
river.

Most of the hands calling beat you and monsters will check-raise (or in this case just make a massive fish call if he flipped quads :f_biggrin:)

So taking a free showdown would be optimal there imo

Having value and value betting are two different things :f_frown:
Value betting means you expect to get called by worse which is hardly the case in this scenario. Depends on reads, but I doubt he calls you with J or 99 or worse there.
His turn mindonk means that either he: has a monster and thinks you're aggressive so expects to get raised; blockbets his draw; is on heavy mushroom influence.
I think your hand definately has showdown value therefore checking behind on river is fine, you get to see what he mindonks turn with and take the pot down alot of the times since the river bricked off.

My bet on the river was a super thin value bet I guess.. It's hard to explain the gameflow but given his tendencies I really think he would have called me with an underpair here (J, T, pocket 9s etc)

I also have blockers to the straight (KQ) and that minbet was just so fishy / 'omg i'm scared to bluff i'll donk OMG FOLD!!' :f_p:

My thought process is weird :f_frown:

valuebetting against what? it's true that you need to valuebet a somewhat wide range but here is burning money against most oponents. you could make a weird bet to induce a check-raise from a missed draw but since you hold 2 hearts and people are not that agressive in general checking behind should be better.
