I like your play against this enemy. He will almost always bet the river after a check behind.
A check raise would be pretty bad because you might still be ahead against him and can't really fold.
I would stick with the good old "underplay your marginal hands against maniacs".
I like it as well. As default I like bet/fold turn more but a fold against this guy is no option.
