You might even be better off not just calling but shoving yourself behind
too to make sure you get rid of the other limpers and cold callers you
might otherwise still have hangin' around as well.

The limper folded before my play and I was left alone with the cold caller, wasn't better off just calling?

He might have called maybe with an Ax or a lower pair and that would have still left me odds... I was actually of the opinion that I might have wanted him in as anyway the short stacker was dealt with, then I could have played a side pot with the other.

Of course we're never folding ever.

Whether you just call or shove depends mostly on how wide you think MP3 will overcall. You'll be out of position against him when that happens with about a potsize bet left in a protected pot, and the flop will come with at least one overcard quite often, which any of your 2 opponents can have.

So either you think MP2 calls often enough with garbage that it's worth risking him putting you in that spot, in which case it's fine to trap him in there hoping he makes a random pair and stack off with, or you don't, and then you'd rather isolate the shortstack instead.

Against short stacks under who have under 50bb it's an easy shove preflop with things like AK, QQ and JJ.

Against even shorter stacks I shove all in preflop with AQs, TT and 99.
