I can't make a small bet (1/2 pot) without committing myself, so its either check/push i think.

Would this be a spot then to just check behind and hope for a showdown?

I don't see villain folding any ace, it would just be silly of him to call with a weak ace and fold the flop when he hits. So the push would be a pure bluff.

i would shove pre.

as played you cant 3bet pre and fold flop. you just have to get it in on any flop with your stack size.

so i check behind flop and either shove turn if checked to again or raise if he bets to get value from bluffs

I think these stack sizes are pretty good for just calling. You are the button, right?

#2. stack sizes are so shallow that you will get called quite a bit, while you may lose value when he just calls and c/f flop, whereas he called you preflop for full stacks. As played I'd check behind to get value from bluffs, betting the flop makes no sense to me. You might even want to fold turn when he shoves or something, depends on the player and turn card.

Edit: If you do decide to bet make it really small like 150-200 to induce spew from him.
