I was reluctant to get it all in on the flop here against the big stack. His open raise range could have hit two pair/set/straight on this board. I realise now that I probably shouldn't call his 2-bet, I should either shove or fold. What do I do?

This is a spot you'd rather not be in obviously. The board could have hit quite alot of hands and he could even have a straight or two pair.

I'd bet flop like you did, and reraise all in after the flop call. It's unlikely it will be checked down to the river instead of that you guys will get it in on later streets.

if you think his open raising range has you beat on this flop then you should have mucked pre.

i like your pre flop line against loose players, if you hit an A or Q you can happily go broke for 35BBs.

but against a tight player raising UTG just fold pre.

as played i would 3bet shove flop against a loose player. you are ahead and want to charge his draws.

once again if you have any doubt on an A high board if your AQ is good. thats a sign you should be folding pre flop.
