Hello xxxx
Thank you for your email.
The use of any software or website that gives players an unfair advantage is not allowed.
Therefore we would advise you not to post individual hands on forums and discuss the information with other people as that could provide an unfair advantage to other players who view these hands. It gives players information on the way you play as well as for other players involved in the hands displayed.
For more information on our policies about third-party software or website use on Full Tilt Poker, please visit: http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/prohibited_programs.php
Good luck at the tables, and if there's anything else we can assist you with, please contact us.
Regards,
Gearoid

Exact email from ft without my name obviously.

Well then according to this as long as you use aliases for the names everything is fine.

Who is to say what your SN is? It isn't always the same as your forum name for one and for two
if it is, you just do not mention the site in the hand history. Problem solved.

lol are they serious?

i think it just implies to keep it anonymous.

they are trying to discourage data-mining and collusion obv

I doubt they want to or will enforce anything of that sort .. I'm sure most of their main partner sites are sites where you post hands in forums. :f_confused:

They don't even believe themselves, since they need regs to generate rake. Maybe they are in a campain to refill the water with fish.

That sounds pretty stupid, makes me not want to try Fulltilt at all, I was really considering it...

If you post HH's, and you are concerned about getting in trouble, erase the players names and replace them with positions i.e. UTG, BU, CO.

IMO Gearoid the "Poker Specialist" is just a dumb ass. He is taking the safe line when he advises you so he doesn't get you or him in trouble. The rule in FTP's t.o.s. is to stop data mining. HH's that get posted and are used as a learning tool are fine. Sites like Poker Strategy wouldn't be affiliates of FTP if they strongly opposed this practice. Poker Edge, a data mining site, WAS an affiliate of FTP until they outlawed data mining.

Yet there's online sites where you can view alsorts of data about any player on FTP and purchase millions of hand histories covering a huge amount of players. Why aren't FTP doing something about these sites?

What could they do? It is not forbidden to sell HH it is only forbidden to purchase them and use them in your advantage by playing on FTP, like you can read in thier terms and conditions.
But I highly doubt they could prove that you purchased HH`s unless that side gives away information to FTP.

Aren't HH's the property of FTP? They could make the sales of HH's illegal if they wanted to. Much easier and less expensive to threaten the small man with closure of accounts etc (at their laughable discretion of course).

In my opinion they refer to PokerTableRatings and similars, indeed these can give you an unfair edge while playing...but if you use it offline in order to see if the oppo you thought is a pure donk or just an impression, then it's allowed.

I personally use it mostly for the BuddyList+Alert feature that tells you when a favorite customer is online but never keep it open while FT client is running.

My 2 cents
