SB ($109)
BB ($102)
UTG ($135)
CO ($12.85)

Dealt to Hero K♥ Q♣

UTG raises to $3.50, fold, Hero calls $3.50, fold, BB calls $2.50

FLOP ($11) J♥ T♥ Q♦

BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $7.50, BB folds, UTG calls $7.50

TURN ($26) J♥ T♥ Q♦ T♦

UTG checks, Hero checks

RIVER ($26) J♥ T♥ Q♦ T♦ 6♦

UTG bets $18, Hero calls $18

villain is 42/37 after 19 hands. if the River is a , I think a fold becomes much easier. I'm not even sure about my call on 6 :diamond: Overall I'm not sure if I can expect to be ahead here 30% of the time.

by the way, should I bet more on the flop? I didn't want to bet too much since the board is pretty ugly and I think I may have to fold if I get checkraised (but perhaps not?), but also if I have the best hand I don't know whether $7.50 is enough to protect?
Thanks

On the flop I'd also bet, Imo the betsizing is ok because our perceived range is pretty strong.
On the turn I think you have to either bet/fold with the plan of checking behind on the river or assume you're behind and check back with the plan of folding unimproved.

I'd probably check back because I can't see many worse hands in his range (basically only a few A :heart:x  if he ever plays them like this).
So following that line of thought I'd fold the river, imo even if he actually had a FD he's not necessarily betting it because he's either behind and expects to get called or he's ahead and we're not bluffing too much.

This is my leak as well :f_cry:

Call river in such hand is never good and costs plenty of money.. Just fold it and wait for the hand where you are more likely to win money.

Generally IMO - avoid calling in Texas holdem if you are not sure that you are ahead. (or if you think it´s likely you are ahead).

Fully agree w Bierbaer´s comments as well.

I am capable of folding this river when I am fresh, but when I am multitabling or am slightly tired, I start to think weirdly like "he is bluffing air", "My TPGK should be good" but it is generally bullshit.. The additional reasons to what Bierbaer said:

1) he is more likely to c/c medium strentgh hands like AJ, KJ, 9J (he wants you to induce and is afraid of c/r). So if he bets it is clear that he is either on bluff or has a better hand.
2) As played there are not many hands he would call on flop and bluff on river.
---> He is more likely stronger than you. Just avoid these calls, fold river is by far the best play :)

...and I call it frequently as well lol _cool:
