don't listen to music while playing, it affects your game more than you think. that's really a solid piece of advice i wish i had been given sooner

It can also affect you in a positive way...
I stay more focused and optimistic when I listen to music..
and I would've probably quit poker a while ago if I couldn't listen to music while I sit in front of my computer and grind all day 
TwiceT also had some good points about listening to music while grinding in one of his interviews... Someone might try to dig that up somewhere
I find having something on in the background helps me a lot Whether it's music, or a programme on the TV, it all helps me focus
This is what I regularily play too: http://pokercast.twoplustwo.com/ Its a great podcast about pretty much everything poker. WSOP, High Stakes cash games, Online players, strategy etc etc. Very entertaining and it doesn't distract me from playing at the tables like watching a show or something does.
i now only listen to music when i play <2 tables (MTTs), I really agree with ihufa.
