Hi! They're not very difficult. you should have a bankroll of ~50buy-ins though for single table SnG just to account for variance (which for partypoker puts you at over 500$ and is a bit steep for lots of people).

I'd say Standard is better if you are a good player. It's more on play and less on luck (you're forced to make a great deal more moves in Speed).

I think the current strategies offered on this site for SnG are more suited for speed though so... just up to you.

Play a couple more, see how you go. That sort of ROI is very impressive though.

Nice read! And as already mentioned by chenny8888: an impressive ROI! Please make sure that you have at least a 50 buy-in bankroll. Whether you play speed or normal SnG doesn't matter. The strategy is the same but you reach the push or fold mode way faster in speed tournaments. Whatever you will play:

Ok so i'm back after some time off for my exams. Over the past few days i hit my first downswing. It was bad beat after bad beat and when i got a hand somebody had a better hand. I lost 16 buy-ins and lost faith in my game. After considering cashing out i decided to give it another two days.

So in those two days i won 22 buyins and i happy. ROI of 41% and a big smile.

A good ROI is above 25% I would say, but you will need at least around 1k played SNG's to tell what your true ROI is - but looks like you're doing great so far

At the start of the day my banckroll was $920 but i have lost this morning and down to $840.
I only play $11 (10 players) on partypoker. Did not enjoy my session this morning, it has made me sick

Just steaming on here rathter than at the poker tables. Played 10 sng in the past hour and a half.. Did not place in any of them. Is this uncommon because it has never happened to me before. I may post some hands when i get back from work but i dont have time now. So frustrating because i got knocked out on the bubble on 6 of the sng. I will go over my hands and see whether i should have played them differently but now i have to go to work..

if you're doing turbo, very uncommon that it hasn't happened to you until now.

if you're doing normal, still common enough

I play a combination of speed with 5 min blinds and standard with 10 min blinds. Have not tried turbo yet, not to keen on 3 minute level but i will give it a shot now. I'm going to give it another shot now. I'll keep you posted.

nah think you misinterpreted me; i don't like turbo- it's a lot less post-flop play for a lot less time. much prefer normal

Was calling a better option?

Not sure wether to post this in the samle hand forum or with this so ill just leave it here for now.

Hand 1: stack size is missing. If you had 2000+, good call, otherwise, fold or reraise.

Hand 2: shouldve folded. 50 50 at best, and because of the payout structure, this call wont pay you off.

Hand 3: no, good move. 3handed, so already payed, miniraise, all in for fold equity, and for a really good hand in that position. Calling is not a good move because you are out of position.

Ok so i'm back. I cashed out a bit of money to buy some nice things but not much. Here are my stats as of today. It appears that i have a much better ROI on the standard tables but i will still play speed because they are quicker.

Been thinking about switching from partypoker to full tilt. Does anybody know if the players are better or worse at full tilt sngs?

Topic 1 -- You might find this amusing

In Melbourne this weekend we had a exabition called Sexpo which is concerned with everything adult. So i was there with my mates and they had a stage and video cameras set up for a game of strip poker. 7 seated. 3 guys 4 girls.
So i thought what the hell it might be fun and i could pull out any time without having to take it all off.

It drew a big crowd ~150 ppl and the tv cameras were in action
Well the structure was 5 minute levels starting at 1/2 and a starting stack of 7!!!
Once or chip stack was gone we played with clothes. 1 piece = 1 BB
First hand i had 75o on the button and it got folded to me. Big blind folded out of turn so i decide to steal off them. I folded until i was ont he button again and blinds were 2/4 so i pushed with 55 and BB called and extra 3 with 24o and got trip 2's. Now my stack was gone!!

Well the point is i ended up being naked and its gunna b on tv. My mates got photos which r funny as.

Upside is i got to meat 4 attractive females and get naked with them! + a whole heap of merchandise (poker and adult toys and books/dvds)

Topic 2 -- MY CARRER

I have been playing $11 sng on party and built my BR to $1100. I played two $22 sng and got unlucky in both. Played another two and came second and 4th so im sitting on $1072. I think if i get down to $1000 i will drop back down to $11 and wait till i get back up to $1100. Does this sound like a good idea? I try to play the same but im bit more strict with the hand ranges ill push with. It just that 4 tables ends uup being $88 and thats an twelth of my BR. I'll get used to it.

EDIT: Just started two $22 and one the first and busted out 4th on the other. Had my aces cracked. Maybe i can beat this...

what does "ROI" stand for?

ROI = Return of investment

ROI% = ( Profit / (Buyin + Rake ) ) - 1

Haha nice read. And about your poker, don't try to think of it as money you might lose, but see it as investing 2x what you used to to win 2x what you used to
