Fine by me. You can take him off random floats and low pocket pairs on the turn, but comes the river the only real thing you can hope for when you bet is that he believes you for an overpair and folds something like 8x, while the most common 8x hands have more than one pair on that board and he could have had a boat right from the flop. Since you don't know him he might or might not even consider folding 8x, so overall I don't like firing a third barrel in that spot.
