The limper was a MT, but that was all I knew. The SB hasn't got a clue - he raised from EP earlier in the game and called my shove with A2. Just wondered if missed out on a value bet on the river. Guess I was too cautios on the bubble.

I think it is played well. Altho we might be missing out on some value, losing chips is way worse and doubling up against the big stack doesn't change the situation too much, we'll still be second and there will still be the bubble.

I usually shove pre, with your read I think it's all fine. Maybe a 400~500 river bet could work.

What do you do if the fish check/raises you all in on the river? Still call?

It would be my standard play....
is it bad because of one shorter stack and the bubble?
so we prefer to not take a risk...

I think ATs is to strong to just check here....with A9s I would prefer checking or pushing depending on the opponent

Shoving preflop would be my play, as well. I think you have a lot of folding equity, and it is quite unlikely that you are behind preflop. In case someone was trapping, ATs has a lot of equity against all but AA.

In order for shoving for value on the river to be better than checking behind, you need 78% equity when called. Smaller bets require less equity. I think the SB would bet almost all better hands. You could try a smaller value bet, which would not need to be ahead as often (a bet of 600 needs 68% equity when called), and which would get called by more Jx hands. If the SB will check-raise often, it must be with a weak range.

Effective bet size: 1600
Win small: 3000 chips, 0.2637
Lose small: 1600 chips, 0.1933
Win big: 4600 chips, 0.3172
Lose big: 0 chips, 0

Equity needed to bet for value: 78.31%
Chip gain needed to bet for value: 905.79.

Imo you will need a solid read on both the CO and SB. you dont want either of them limp/calling you wide, so you need to be confident that.

1. their limp is weak and they are not trapping. (especially the CO)
2. they will limp fold very often to your shove (especially the SB! who has almost 8k chips. A lot of unknowns will call just to gamble in this spot if you shove and this is VERY bad for you)
