My Question is, did this hand play itself?

Or...

Should I have used different bet-sizes? Would checking the turn a sensible option? It wasn't until after I'd bet the turn that I realised I was committed, hence b/c turn.

Howdy,

I would bet more on the flop. Although it looks strong, but regretting cheap drawing may hurt a lot more in a multiway pot. Same goes for turn, just shove it in. And I wouldn't fold top two here. He may have draws, KQ, AQ, worse Ax as he is fishy fish.

Good luck!

Hi,

Agreed, just bet ~$0.45 on the flop and jam the turn.

Then keep cool when he shows you the absolute mortal nuts, coolers even out long-term.

Hope it helps.
