I played 2 weak hands lately that turned out to be very good before the river card twice gave the nuts to my opponent.

How could I have played differently to avoid those situations? Or was it just simply bad luck?

just sometimes fishes get good cards that beat your hand on the river.
That is part of the poker and you have to deal with it. Good thing that other 90% you get value your hands and they pay you out with worse hands. That should compensate times when they outdraw you :)
Both hands you played fine and standard
