it's good you re-raised him preflop. that we get more value if he calls. and on a flop like this - it's an easy shove with your KK if he shoves.

First, your thinking about the hand is very good! And I will explain why your assumptions about his range make this a very easy call.

We can evaluate your equity in the hand using the pokerstrategy equity calculator (or pokerstove).

I input the board and your hand into the program, then I gave villain all spade combinations and all pairs. Against that range you have 69.573% equity!

Which makes this a very easy call

In general, overpairs are extremely strong hands in a SnG (especially strong overpairs like KK) and you can try get your stack all-in against every opponent you will come across.

I have just moved up from $1 to $2 SNGs, and I finished OTM in my first 4 in a row, and was beginning to doubt myself.

In the above hand, I pushed, was called, only to find that the villain had A9o
I doubt that I would have bet much on that hand let alone risk it all so early.

Anyway, to make a long story short, the Turn was an A, and to add insult to injury, the river was another A. <sigh>

This is the only the 4th time I ever busted out 9th, and by FAR the earliest in a tournament.

I checked back later, and this guy not only won the tournament, he did with hand after hand of betting large on crap, and winning on the T & R.

There is very little difference between busting out 9th and bubbling out. You get no money either way. Busting out early means you have more time to play another tournament, or to focus on other tournaments you might be playing. On Full Tilt, you get more tournament leader board points for finishing 4th, although this is not a large consideration.

You may want to consider making a slightly larger raise so that your opponent does not get as good pot odds preflop, and to make it less of an overbet to push on the flop.

Occasionally, players overbetting postflop with trash will win a tournament, but if you look the player up with Sharkscope (after your session is over if you play on a site which prohibits Sharkscope use during play) you almost always see something like a -50% ROI. These players do not have the patience to wait for good hands, and this is very costly when they pay off their opponents' good hands repeatedly.

I looked up the guy on Sharkscope, and he had -46% ROI

more than that, he busted out in 8th or 9th place in 4 of the 8 games sharkscope would show me for free.
