Morning!

In my bed, just woke up and ate my daily banana. Yesterday didn't get to put in any volume. I overestimated my schedule. On the plus side, noticed a pattern that leads me to wasting substantial time, when gf is here. She keeps asking me to lay with her in bed and I'm afraid she will get mad if I leave. Lol gtfo then. Let her get mad. I gotta do me.

So today will be a prototype day, The Day of the Gods. It's all in place to see how well I can live any given day. I will plan it to increase productivity.

Let's Go!!!

Just played one of the most embarrassing sessions of my life. Experimented with a new hud, massive fail, which resulted in me being out of my comfort zone at the tables --> massive fail in my play, disoriented spew mode, I'm hungry, wanted to nap but didn't, I can say most of this is because I didn't plan my time accordingly so I've been all over the place

I know that feel bro

When it happened to me, I had just formatted my pc and reinstalled HM2 and the fucker didn't want to import hands (by that I mean I was too stupid to set it up correctly). That coupled with me 6 tabling and the frustration with the HUD, I spewed 7 buy-ins in 300 hands I think.

Post the worst spew for teh lolz imo

But seriously, I used to post my worst spews on the forums. It resulted in feeling very ashamed and usually prevented spews in the near future plus it motivates to work on your game, mental or technical.

Heater aside, even though it's hard to get good tables, I find NL100 to be enjoyable, because of the challenge involved. I have to play my best - regs are quite good overall. There are some regs that I can say are better than me, but there are still some that are quite peaceful and weak-ish.

Until next time!

Played a nice live session w/ friends last nite, it was a lot of fun and ran godlike.

I once read somewhere that toning down preflop aggression and increasing postflop skill is more profitable. This was the Biggest lesson from last nite. Flatting IP w/ a wider range and playing postflop.

Wassup, time for a short update

NL100 shot until now is quite swingy, I think I can make it at this limit but I need to step up my game a bit more and keep playing focused. Running 5BI under EV now but small sample w/e.

Fun Adventure timez
Regarding life in general, today I went out with two friends I want to see more of and include in my close social circle. It was so fun, we went up to girls having a camera set up, saying we are doing a video project based on this vid

So basically I went up to a group of random girls asking them to be in a vid with me, where we kiss on the lips. One of them agreed (she had a bf for 2y lol). We kissed and exchanged names afterwards haha.

Sunny Adventure Timez are beginning, should be pretty +LifeEV

Otherwise, I have been posting in drafts almost everyday for this blog, will synthesize them and post interesting stuff / lessons here.

Hey mate,

Incredible read so far. It's funny though, virtually every post of yours reminds me of me in one way or another. We really have lots in common (check out my blog when you have a spare moment, u'll see what I am talking about) and it's really sad that we don't live in one city lol, as I feel we could push each other forward and upwards to become better quite nicely!

Definitely following and expect to see me here quite often. _thumbsup:

hey, doin' my best Fran hehe, time for a little update I guess :P

Main update is on overall Life, got some adventures going

As I mentioned previously, I think we as poker players tend to get quite antisocial because of so many factors. But this is not my goal, I'm gonna continue making my life like a movie.

Today was AWESOME. I went out again some adventurous friends and got random cute girls on the street to kiss us for the camera, got to kiss a really cute girl among others, a few of them stuck with us for some time and went around having fun, trying to get more girls / guys to kiss in front of the camera - we even got 2 girls who had just met each other to kiss for the camera, which was quite cool

Funniest thing was finding out that I kissed a 16 y/o girl lol pedobear times ftw

I got another girls' number who hung out with us who was making good jokes, and when taking the subway home, I approached a blonde angel who looked just like a Swedish girl, got her number as well, chatting to her. So yeah, I was a total beast today lol.

Poker
I am trying to integrate all key components of my dream life - going to the gym in the morning, going on adventures during the day (perfect weather these days) and playing poker in the evening/night

Regarding NL100, the swingy times continue, here is my graph since starting my shot

I'll continue posting tales from my adventures and maybe vids if u guys are interested.
So yeah, Crush Life and Make it like a Movie!!!

thank bro, appreciate u stopping by!

Hey guys, so for a short update on how things are going, poker started steadily but surely falling out of my focus _mad: Taking up new, exciting stuff in my real life, meeting girls I really like.

That's all good, yo. But the path I'm on now, my Immersion period has been interrupted. Poker is no longer 80% of my life. I began being scattered again. I only play late in the evening when I get home tired. I don't eat enough to put on weight I want in the gym, since I'm not home most of the day.

The results obviously show it.

So I've got to get out of this downwards spiral and turn it around before it's too late. Setting my priorities straight once again, get Pokerz back on TOOOOP mothafukaaaaaa.

YEAH!

were you able to get the passion you had while playing this mmoprg transfer to poker?

I played a lot of wow some time ago but i wasnt able to bring this commitment i had to poker or anything else.
Imo its not a passion or so its more like an addiction while the game is made to let you progress more the more time you put into it. This is true for everything else but while in the game you get a immedatly reward which often isnt the case in other things.

good luck getting poker back on track. Will this mean no more adventures?

Indeed it's harder to transfer that passion in the same amounts. I find it that it's also about limiting your (other) areas of activity as much as possible, so you can immerse yourself in Poker.

Adventures will remain an important part of my life this next few years.

This is the March Review (wrote it few days ago)

Woop! Fell off for a bit there! So what have I been doing lately? Not a lot of poker, I can tell you that much. But, I have a lot of insights regarding Life and Poker from this last period.

Limited Focus
Yeah so I introduced 2 new areas in my life lately: Adventure (filming w/ friends) and Girls (meeting new girls). Both of these are pretty time AND mentally consuming. If previously I had most of my day free to think and live Poker, now my mind is much more cluttered – ideas for filming, how to get this girl I am chatting with etc).
Basically I’ve been overwhelmed and my life has been thrown into chaos. This is what happens when you take on too much at once. I think everyone knows himself quite well and what he can handle.
If there were something unnecessary here I would drop it within a blink of an eye. The thing is I concluded that for me to be happy I need time in the following four areas
1. Finances (Poker)
2. Adventure (Filming stupid shit) - balancing work w/ fun is essential
3. Gym - looking like a God is a must for me, to reveal the true Powerhouse within
4. Angels (beautiful girls) – must enjoy a variety of them, we only live once

So even though it’s a bit overwhelming right now, I am trying to get on top of this, getting it more structured. Me and my friends want to start a new youtube channel, doing crazy retarded stuff in public, which should be really fun but also demanding.

My conclusion for this section is that we have limited time and mental resources, taking on too much at once can severly impact our progress in ALL areas.

Poker
I feel I can play much better, I feel I have so many areas to improve in with my game. To name a few
- Steal battles (BTN+blinds) // defending wider from blinds, having better ranges to flat/3b
- Playing Strong-ish hands from the SB/BB vs UTG (TT-QQ, AQ-AK)
- Defending vs 4B (being less vulnerable vs them) – I fold a lot vs 4bets. Learning to flat 4B w/ a balanced range, containing premiums also and playing postflop
Interesting weapon
- overbets, learning to use them – players don’t have them in their arsenal, this can be my edge

Goals Review
Volume has been shit, quality has been meh, still my results are satisfactory. I have made quite enough from rakeback to cover next month’s expenses, I should also get some $$$ from other bonuses to buy some clothes etc.

DON’T STOP
This is dangerous. It’s tempting to settle and be satisfied. Even though I played half of what I wanted, I still made more than previous months from RB(because of playing NL100). No negative repercussions. For now.

The thing is, I don’t want to settle. I don’t want to ‘just make enough to get by’. I want to dominate, I want to make enough money to finance other business ventures, I want to crush and master this. Why? Because the people who settle and stop progressing get FUCKED. I think this is true in poker more so than in any other area. If you beat the games now, nobody says you will beat them in 6months.
I’ve seen quite a few people fall. A player who was one of the best at NL1k few years back, is now playing NL200. A player who played NL400 a few years back, now playing NL50.

If you want to live the life of your dreams, there is no place for stopping in your journey.

Plans for the next period
I want to master my time so that I can balance gym/adventure/poker/girls. I still want Poker to remain my main immersion area, followed by the new Youtube channel, while keeping gym and girls at a minimum in my life, since it already is too much.

April Fools lol
Yeah so for April fools my gf who I was supposedly recently broken up with caught me at my apartment w/ another girl, which was pretty much a legendary experience.

Thinking about lowering the criteria for this blog and starting to post my thoughts on poker more often; after all, this will improve my game considerably, and this is one of the main purposes behind this blog.

Daniel

My 2014 So Far:

(+3k€ preRB)
Started from NL20, went up to NL50 and now still playing NL100 somewhat comfortably.

Radical change from my previous years (graphs on 1st page). Volume has sucked the last month and a half, obviously need to put in more.

Thought I'd post this so I will keep the pressure on to keep performing, I started being complacent lately.

Overall satisfied and I feel the urge to really give myself to this game, since it is giving so much to me - lifestyle, self-reliance, time for gym, adventures, girls.

Somewhere in the back of my mind I still fear I am still a fish who is running uberhot lol.

Hey thanks for the support Fran.

My suspicions still follow me... I'm doing pretty bad the last couple of days and aside from bad luck, I think it's also my fault. Mainly I started being unjustifiably looser.

Today took a look @ session stats and I was playing 27/22 and 3B - 13. As if I can afford playing this style at a new limit.

My hand is just too itchy, taking on too many spots to 3b without further plans, jumpin' in too many spots.

Other than this, I should really decide what will my approach be this next period. I feel there's 2 ways to go about my game now
1. Stay Solid - make $$$ safe and steady, don't open urself up to too many tough spots, don't make it a point to get involved with regs too much.

2. Loosen Up - fight for pots, put urself in tough situations, expose yourself to variance, expand your game.

I have been going for #2 lately, but I can't afford the variance and volatility it will bring, so I am going at it half-heartedly. Like I feel I'm not going solid, but I'm not going all the way with my reads either. So that sucks lol. I need at least 65BIs to be comfortable playing like this.
So until then, I will go back to #1 and play a solid style, focusing on fish, becoming more technical.

Lower PF aggression, increase postflop skill.
I think most of this is trying to end things preflop too much. 3betting from the blinds (w/o a plan for what to do vs a 4B) instead of defending wider. I should 3b less. Still, I am thinking about having a flatting range vs regs IP (I rarely do in CO/BU).

Leaks
BTW I don't feel so strong in my play and I am still winning. I mean I still feel I make many mistakes. Games are good. Players are weak. There is potential to grow much further.
There is no such thing as games being too tough, ppl are just not working hard enough on their games (like myself).

Not finding the FOLD button
I noticed myself becoming much more reluctant to fold lately, my WTSD is going up and W$SD% is going down lol. It just ties in to the concept of remaining solid and not complicating things. So Fold early vs aggression OR make a plan for how you will react (not 'peel one off and let's see')

I noticed a bad tendency of mine - every time I get a strong draw, I am committed to taking down the pot, one way or another. The concept of giving up is out of my reality.
Good example

Prima, $0.50/$1 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $171.62 (171.6 bb)
BB: $164.11 (164.1 bb)
MP: $100 (100 bb)
CO: $132.38 (132.4 bb)
Hero (BTN): $111 (111 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with J Q
2 folds, Hero raises to $2, SB raises to $8, BB folds, Hero calls $6

Flop: ($17) T K 2 (2 players)
SB bets $11, Hero calls $11

Turn: ($39) 3 (2 players)
SB bets $23, Hero raises to $58, SB raises to $152.62 and is all-in, Hero calls $34 and is all-in

River: ($223) 4 (2 players, 2 are all-in)

Results:

Spoiler

$223 pot ($3 rake)
Final Board: T K 2 3 4
SB showed K Q and won $220 ($109 net)
Hero showed J Q and lost (-$111 net)

Lifewise, it pretty much sucks that the last period I had to give up doing fun things because I didn't put my poker time in. I don't have to sacrifice other areas, I just have to increase time management skills! There IS enough time to play poker, have fun, go to the gym!

So that should be my focus the next period actually.

OK So I've decided the direction I want to go with this blog. This will be something like a Success Journal, but I'll call it Powerhouse Journal, since it sounds cooler. I see I've been wanting to post up stuff that will please, that will look quality. I started trying to serve others more than myself which is Lose-Lose long term.

I still want to offer value through this blog. But through my insights, through my journey. I feel there is so much more to Poker than betting and folding.

My path in Poker right now is climb limits, make lots of $$$ to fund other ventures, build skills of discipline, self management, confidence in my ability to overcome challenges that will be the base for success in the rest of my life. This blog will accompany me through all of this.

It will all start being a lot less 'fluff'/'eye candy' and more hardcore, nitty gritty stuff, more hustle, that REAL Mastery implies.

Getting down to business, on today's topic:

Success breeds complacency, which leads to failure.

Lately I realized how hard being successful on your own really is. It's so touuugh. You have to face so much shit you're not ready for. The above quote reflects my life lately. And I'll go into the lessons the following video brought for me, solid stuff.

Framing: Last month I did pretty well for myself, without requiring much effort. I got ~450EUR from RB, ~200EUR from other bonuses. I could've easily gotten ~1,1k EUR sticking to my volume goals but it was already enough for me.
Additionally, I met a very high quality girl I really like and really enjoy fucking.
I got it made basically. I always thought that when I will get to NL100 and be able to print some serious $$$, my work ethic and motivation will improve. It didn't. It went the other way.
I played less and less, had more and more trouble focusing and carving out the time for poker. I felt more unhappy (wtf, rite?). I knew I had gotten complacent, but this video really opened my eyes.

So here are my notes:

  • When you have it good, your DNA, unconscious impulses say 'relax'
This is why 'getting there' is so dangerous.
  • Your mind is DNA, DNA will not allow ur mind to engage, unless it sees a point.
  • Biggest enemies of mind engaging: CASH and VAGINA
I saw this I was like oh shit, I got BOTH lately! No wonder I've lost motivation so drastically!
  • Your thought are not YOU. You are that presence, the observer of your thoughts.
  • The mind will say "Just chill. Life is about relaxing, about having fun."
  • NATURE is programmed to conserve energy. If your mind doesn't have enough pushing on it, it won't fight back.
  • Just being smothered in vagina&money is NOT life's greatest happiness. That comes from being engaged, from doing shit.
  • Your mind is LYING to you. You will actually be much happier by being engaged and active in life than being disengaged and going to external stimulation, that will make you feel miserable
    Examples
Tyler (dude in vid): Fucking the hottest girl he ever had, just chilling with cash handled, going to restaurants - felt miserable, no growth, felt like regression even
Me (on a lower scale): Got substantial cash just to buy new clothes (didn't do this for a looong time), had the cutest girl ever almost begging to spend time with me and to fuck me. Still, I knew I should be playing poker. I felt my game backsliding, through all that fucking, through all that having fun with friends. Felt miserable.

[Critical Mass]

  • you think it's YOU who's doing shit. It's part u, part ur DNA
  • DNA will only engage your mind when it feels it HAS to
  • You will have to put urself into situations deliberately, that will trigger ur brain to wake up, and get u engaged (feels like Bliss), as opposed to feeling like u've wasted your years chilling too much
  • Once you GET Success, find the way to reengage

[I'm Back Baby!]

  • Once you're done, you're DONE - when you fall off momentum, you're very likely not coming back
Example: My Mother. She has had very much success in a MLM business. She set in her mind a goal that she thought would bring stability. Until that goal she continuously hustled and absolutely crushed it, created massive momentum. When she reached that goal, her brain stopped engaging. She rationalized 'I deserve a break, I'll get back on to getting to the top'. This was 6 years ago. She didn't reach a new level since then.
  • 2 ways to get back: Economic downturn and Seeing other engaged people (seeing how happy they are) - which very few of us have around them
  • Once a personality starts to run you, it will get CANCEROUS and it will do anything to stay there. Once the 'let's chill and relax personality' takes the wheel, it's OVER - u're gonna have to ROOT that cancer out
  • If you previously began the day with ' How will I dominate, what will I accomplish?' ; now it's 'how will I stimulate/enjoy/relax myself today, maybe I'll fuck my gf'.
    ^These are fine, in MODERATION
  • Life is WORK HARD, PLAY HARD
not Play hard, Play hard, relax, Play hard, Play hard, relax......... u'r done
  • Once the cancerous personality takes the wheel, you will FORGET what Engagement felt like - "Man, I was too intense...", "Life is about chilling"
  • You have to look at it like - "There's a SCARCITY of opportunity, if u see it, you'll fucking take it"
Realize, Online Poker will not be around forever.
  • There's certain benchmarks you need to be hitting at certain stages(years) of your life, you will have to AGGRESSIVELY reach them, while you still have your energy levels
  • Your frame must be: 'If you fall off that narrow road, you may NEVER COME BACK!'
So Daniel, get back NOW! The further you will get from the narrow road, the HARDER it is to come back.
  • Motivation is a blessing, don't take it for granted

[You could do anything, but WOULD you?]

  • We could potentially do anything, this doesn't mean we actually will
  • Where's all that shit you could've done until now, that you didn't do?
  • You're a piece of DNA actually. Its agenda is
    1. Save time and energy
    2. Once you got to a point of comfort, it will try to keep you there
^^This is just the Nature of Life^^
    UNDERSTAND
  • you gotta keep on the narrow road
  • keep yourself engaged
  • engagement=HAPPINESS
  • MONEY&Vagina is not Happiness
  • You're not coming back if u fall off (you have to claw ur way back)
  • IF you fell off, get BACK ON NOW, realize you can fail at LIFE
  • CONTINUALLY trigger your mind to find New sources of long game motivation
  • The scariest part is not seeing others rip away at your dreams, but yourself :(
  • Get rid of the MEDIA FUELED illusions that Happy = Money, Pussy, Chillin'
  • Your new concept should be: Expansion (work) and Contraction (chill) - when u earn it.
This is your road to become a GOD, not the media illusions
  • Rather than thinking you are a person with potential, think you are an Element that needs critical mass, to be put in situations that trigger your DNA to give you the Fuel+Focus to Engage.
Look at urself more from the outside and apply outside forces on urself.

So... Can a Win be your biggest Loss?

As a BONUS, I have another related vid that taught me something VERY Powerful, and I want to write about this concept here, to further drill it into my brain. It's from a self made millionaire, lives next to Katy Perry lol.

the famous Columbia historian Will Durant:

"A nation is born Stoic and dies Epicurean."

Stoics were people who believed in sacrificing the now to get something better later.

Epicureans lived for pleasure.

They believed in "YOLO" - you only live once - so get what you can today without thinking about tomorrow.

Durant was saying great nations and great businesses are built by people willing to sacrifice present luxury for a future benefit.

This helped me go even deeper on the fact that real happiness comes from keeping your mind engaged, staying on your path. The new concept / mindfuck it brought for me, that I really want to drill in myself is eliminating my inner conflict between instant gratification and sacrificing instant pleasure for long term results.

My old Paradigm: So often there is a conflict inside between pleasure in the moment (going out with friends / seeing a cute girl / having hot sex) and hustling for my dreams (playing poker / planning my week, day / setting new goals). The conflict appears when the 'pleasures' overlap w/ my poker time. Then rationalizations come up "yeah ok, I will go out with them, but for a little while" - next thing u know, 5hrs later I'm home, tired, not the best form for playing poker.

New Paradigm: THERE IS NO SACRIFICE. There is no conflict If you choose to be a 'stoic' you will still be happy, even happier than choosing the instant stimulus! It's a win-win. When I choose a moment's pleasure over my path, it feels good in the moment but in the back of my mind I'm like 'I shouldn't be doing this'. After the stimulation is gone I'm left feeling miserable.
Realize the 'stoic' way will make u even happier, for a longer period of time, as a bonus it will also get you rich! So there's not much of choice anymore.

I AM BEING LIED to by the mainstream, the media, that all that surface stuff will bring me happiness. So that's why I feel an 'artificial' pull towards that. But it's only an Illusion.

Not to say there isn't a place for having fun and all that. But it should be in lower proportions, it should be earned by hard work. I feel I would enjoy sex much more when I would 'earn' it. Like 'yep, worked hard on my game, really grinded it out the last few days, this is for me'

What does all this mean for me?
:diamond:I need to get back on the Grind NOW
Learn from this mind disengagement and hold this lesson dear to you for the rest of your life! I am very grateful that I learned this so early in life! Fortunately it hasn't been so long since I fell off, so time to start gaining momentum back
:diamond:Be very aware of the dangers of 'I'll stop and chill for a while'
From now on, I must always create new and powerful goals to keep myself engaged.
:diamond:There is NO conflict anymore, sacrificing temporary pleasure isn't even a sacrifice
The 'sacrifice' is just an illusion the media is trying to sell on me.

Well this is it for today. This will be the style I am heading towards, me analyzing challenges that come up and chipping away at them until I POWER through them.
