Hello my fellow SSS'ers,

As you can see by the graph below yesterdays session was very much a roller-coaster ride as seems to be the norm lately on Mansion. You're up and then down, up again and then down again.

It seems very hard to try and make any serious progress on NL20 and i found the same problems on NL10. There are so many on the waiting lists and so many short stacks when you finally find a table that proper table selection is becoming very hard to accomplish right now. It would be very interesting to hear other peoples view on their table selection process at Mansion, so please feel free to comment.

The one thing positive that i can take from it is that i am more than happy with how i am playing and with the decisions that i am making which is my main goal at the moment rather than any monetary values.

I just wanted to say hi. I am a SSSer too. I play on party and currently grinding at NL25. I got a blog too, but i am too lazy or too busy to update it more frequently.

I'm a bit of a noob at SSS, but I've taken the view that at NL20 the play is sufficiently bad, short stacks or not, to pretty much take any table...

To temper that comment, I try to avoid any table with a players to flop %age in single digits.

Once on the table its just a case of using stats to work out if the short stacks are SSS players or just min buyin players, and adjusting my game to take account of the play of any SSS players.

But I agree, it is slow progress indeed!

I agree that the play is sufficiently bad on this level but they also seem to be sufficiently luckier too which makes for the slow progress that we have both noticed.

As for using stats, that is something that i was originally planning to implement in my NL20 game from the start but what with the problems of only having 2 months to clear the 6500 MCPs i am having to 8 table to make the points each day and only having a laptop screen at the minute i am having to tile the tables making it a nightmare to see the stats clearly.

But i will definately try your approach of looking for double figure players per flop and i will try to work harder on learning to use Eyepoker abit better for my table selection.

I managed to purchase eyepoker and a 250k database as we discussed on skype but tbh i'm not sure how to best use it, so would you have any helpful tips like what filters to use and the settings, ranges etc.

Just read through your blog for first time and best of luck with your journey.
I'm not much of a cash game player myself, I get bored at lower levels and lose too much money at higher levels.
My one bit of advice for what its worth would be to stick with your plan to have a learning day.
I would suggest that any winning poker player spends a fair amount of time reviewing their own play. Ideally you should analyse each session when you finish but I know from experience that often we play into the early hours and just want to go to bed after.
I recommend that before you start any session you should review the previous one, see what you did well or not so well.
Make copious notes, particularly on other players, hard I know when you are multi-tabling but absolutely essential for good table selection. Stats alone are not a good enough guide to your opposition and remember that these bastards are trying to take real money off you, you have to find their weak spots and exploit them and also understand their strengths and know when to back off.
Finally, besides basic BRM set yourself limits for each session / day. You should definately have a loss limit. Whatever you set it to (maybe 3 buy ins) if you reach it, STOP playing for the DAY and analyse then reanalyse.
You might also want to consider setting a profit limit on a similar basis, I know some people do but it is very hard to quit when you are "on a roll" but ultimately probably a good idea to limit variance.
Also set a time limit for each session, play 2 hours then break for at least half an hour.

As for the rest of your post, all i can say is WOW as there is some great advice there mate and its very much appreciated.

As you have mentioned Sunday will be my learning and reviewing day but i also try to review my sessions once i have finished if i have got the time as an old sod like me needs all the beauty sleep i can get these days ♦.

I also like the idea of a stop-loss limit as well as a stop-win limit too. I'm also very lazy with regards to breaks sometimes as i can play 3 hrs straight sometime without a break so that is something definitely worth looking in to.

I just thought of something which you might find useful.
It is a blog of a guy I have played on many occasions, Richard Herbert aka strummer9.
I dont want to take traffic away from PS but I think the more information you can get the better.
I have only ever played Rich in mtts - $100 buy in but he makes his living playing cash, mostly limit.
The blog though will give you an understanding of what it takes to be a succesful player, the discipline (or lack thereof) required, the sort of variance that even top players get etc as well as incorporating a few tips here and there.
It is worth reading as far back as you can to see just how far he has come. When I first met him through Ladbrokes, he was playing NL20!

Party poker is personaly my room of choice. I like it, because there aren't that much shortstackers around and generally at least at NL10 or NL25 there is a lot of calling stations. Your aggression is respected if you manage to stay TAG and thus profitable. Software is ok, i use the new table and it's sometimes a bit laggy if you have many tables opened.

I haven't expirienced a lot of bad beats, suckouts or runner runner river suckouts. Deposit bonus is nice (500$), points aren't hard to collect and 1 party point is 1.5 PS point so you can be at least Gold in no time.

About a stop loss and stop win limit. I've set my win limit at 20$ (4 BI) but for loss limit i can't do it ♦ Usually i play more if i am losing to earn the $ back, but i almost never do. I guess i can't discipline myself most of the times. It's my biggest weakness.

I too have joined the pokerstrategy site and linked up with mansion initially. Shall see how that goes, but I have just about doubled the first $50.00 bankroll I received yesterday playing $0.1/0.2!

Also under 100 hands playing $0.25/0.50, which is my usual limit (and where I am in the most profit)

Due to your post I have realised that I have 6 months to clear the bonus. Bit of a gutter that you only have 2 but I am sure you will do it with some hard grind and level play. I also agree with the previous post, taking a break in between playing is vital. Even if it is just to go grab some food, watch a bit of t.v. or just chill.

I just wanted to also ask what you are using to put your graph together? Is it something through Mansion/this site/ or me being naive and your simply using Excel?

Well what a session it was yesterday although not in a positive way so this review will be just a short one.

Here is the graph which will probably explain it better than a 1,000 words will ever do.

It was only a short session of 424 hands in the end as i started to realize that i was getting very frustrated and not playing my A-game so decided i should quit and live another day so to speak.

After reviewing my hands where i lost the most (4 out of 5 big hands that i had) and playing around with Equilator i have since discovered that 3 of those 4 hands i was a slight favourite but the other one i was a 69% favourite so it seems it was just one of those days although at the time it got me a little pissed off.

I will play another session later but with a stop-loss and stop-win gap initiated and we shall see if lady luck might wanna sit in my lap.

Hey guys,

I didn't play any poker last night as i was attending Max's Coaching from 4.00 til 5.30, then Gerv was kind enough to help me set-up EyePoker with me and then he sweated an hour or so session with me on Mansion and i really learned alot and forgot a few things as well :rolleyes:. So big, big thanks to Gerv for all his help last night as it was very much appreciated.

I have been going through my hand histories to try and find any major leaks that may be causing the current losses but apart from a couple of wrongly played hands i couldn't really find anything of note so i am planning to record a 40/45 min video that i will upload for review as someone else may notice something that i cant.

As soon as i have finished recording the video, which will probably be later tonight, then i will post a link to it in this blog.
