[x] SummerTime Bonus has just begun!
From today on, I will receive 40% rakeback on Titan or as some say: $10 for every $25 rake! ♦ - I made it! I can finally play 1 full month on Titan to release the bonus, getting rakeback and build up my bankroll.
Today ive played a small session from 3 CET till 5 CET. After that I was away with friends/family. I had a good time and so did my bankroll.
I think 7 á 8 tabled NL20 SSS works the best for me.
As you could see, its quity Swingy but that should be the case when you play SSS. Average win rate was 1.48BB/100 so thats below average but its still profit
In this session I got exact 1 suckout, a really mean one and meant to backfire me from yesterday's session. Before I go to my FriedFish moment, my goals in August are:
~ Receive the damn book 'Every Hand Revealed'
~ Play fully on Titan SSS and at least generate rake of $5
~ Learn, learn, learn.
~ release bonus on Titan
I think I will make it by playing properly and according to my SHC.

[x] It's not over untill the Fat Lady sings!
A small celebration: I hit the 1,000 viewers mark! ♦ Seems there are a lot of readers I don't know yet, if you want to stay anonymous. Thats ok - I thank you already for reading my blog
As usual my blogpost comes around midnight, especially in the holidays but my day started like this:
I woke up around 12:30 CET and wandered around the house, looking for some breakfast and stuff. There were some leftover pizza's in the fridge so I heated them up in the microwave and Bon Appetit! Together with some Coffee and Orange Juice I was ready to read PS News, read some posts, surfing on the net, listening to music. The usual things.
My poker day started at 14:15 with a can Energydrink at Titan.
Popped up 8 á 9 tables. And let's go!
Someone watched my back and it was a familiar face: DeKuip
We discussed some hands and he saw someone hit a Royal Flush while I was busy doing something else haha.
At first it went well, I lost a coinflip with AK versus Jacks.
Then I doubled up with a broadway straight and Trips Nines.
I squeezed Villain with an AKs push and he folded.
At some point, DeKuip had to go and this is where the misery began unfortunately..
1] UTG 3-bets my raise while I got TT. I call and he shows me QQ.
2] I luckily hit my 6 six outs with AQ from Flop till River while he shows me 99
3] AKo got steamrolled by KK preflop
4] Pocket Sevens got overestimated during the flop were the board seemed not dangerous. Unfortunately Villain called my preflop raise with Pocket 4 and hit his 3rd Four on the flop. Bang bang..
5] AQo didnt survived against Tens
6] Jacks were dominated by Kings and AQ
7] AJo got beat by a flush while I could easily avoid this situation postflop. Playmistake
8] AKo got defeated by AJs Flush on the river. PreFlop all-in fest.
9] Aces luckily held up against Eights
10] An overbet of 100BB preflop made me think whether to fold QQ, no I did not (I shouldnt ♦) and he revealed AKo. An Ace on the Flop and that was game over.
11] AKo won versus AJo
12] AKo got slapped in the face by Queens who hit her 3rd lady on the flop
13] Jacks won against Tens
And that was session One from 14:15 till 17:00 approx!
The result? - 4.5 Buyins with a very, very progressive BRM.
All my short profits from the last 14 days were now in red numbers.
From 17:00 CET till 19:00 CET I took a break to BBQ with my friends. I had a nice talk, made some jokes and rethinked my strategy and put my mind to zero before the PartyPoker's Queens Quarterly $5k FreeRoll began.
I don't want to give too much details about the Freeroll because its a total fluke. I made $1 dollar and my final hand was:
Pre-Flop: Hero is UTG with 9
CO folds, Hero raises to 3,750, 3 folds, MP2 raises to 6,300, 4 folds, Hero raises to 16,510 and is all-in, MP2 calls 10,210
Flop: (35,320) Q
(2 players, 1 is all-in)
Turn: (35,320) 2
(2 players, 1 is all-in)
River: (35,320) 5
(2 players, 1 is all-in)
Results: 35,320 pot
MP2 showed A
A
(a pair of Aces) and won 35,320 (18,760 net)
Hero showed 9
(a pair of Nines) and lost (-16,560 net)
Quite sucks that immediately after the break, you got kicked out of the tournament and finished 1,078 place out of the 8000.
~ Session Two
In the meantime I played my freeroll (1h 15 min?) I opened up 5 tables on NL20 Titan to play those whenever Im not playing the freeroll and viceversa. It fitted nicely on my screen so that was really comfortable.
Session Two was the comeback session. A session where it took all my motivation and dedication to the ultimate test.
Playing Poker and Poker only. That's it.
How did it went? Excellent! My bankroll went up and up till I was Break-even.
I found this one an achievement to be proud off!
Despite that I surely lost 2 or 3 coinflips during Session Two, Im assured that I won 8 a 9 dominated rounds like AK vs AJ and 99 vs 44 for example.
Session Two ended around 21:20 CET where I took time then to watch WWE SmackDown!
Result: BreakEven & around $9 Rake for the SummerTime Bonus.
~ Session Three
Session three started on 23:00 CET untill Midnight (00:00 CET). 8 Tabled action!
My first double up is at the same time my FriedFish moment in favour of Me!

So yes, I made mistakes but mistakes make me motivate and concentrate to the Pokergame more and more.
Hence I learned a tough lesson and I made up a rule Im going to maintain for the time being:
''When UTG limps/minraises/normal raise and you raise it up with AQ or lower or Queens or lower. and he 3-bets you All-in. Your equity is too low thus you fold. Most of the times you are beat. Especially when its NOT heads-up''
Some will disagree with this but the best scenario is 2 overcards versus your Jacks. But Ive lost too much buyins with these situations.
Tomorrow I will be doing:
x] Writing an essay on how I think when I make a decision whether to play a hand or not in a MTT for a Backdeal in BOD (Dutch)
x] Playing Bronze freeroll on Titan
x] Watch DeKuip play on NL50/100
x] Play 2 Sessions NL20 SSS Titan
x] PokerStars Benelux Freeroll
That's all for now, comments/feedback/congratulations messages are all welcome
Gerv
think i saw you today on titan
caught me at a good time
hope you didnt mind me talking to you at the table.
[x] MTTs MTTs and Titan..
Allright! I woke up at 11:50 CET and took a shower to freshen up my mind. I went downstairs to do the dishes and ate some luxurious breakfast (croissants & Jus d'orange hmmmm! jammie
)
After that I brainstormed about my essay that I was going to send in for the backdeal competition for the BOD.
Here is the link but its in Dutch though:
Click!
So after that, I signed up for the Bronze PS Freeroll. I really hoped I could play both Freeroll and BOD.
Besides that Titan Poker NL20 wass full of SH Shortstackers. On the Fullring tables every player was shortstacked in the afternoon and around 20:00 CET. It was sick and I felt sick about it because its not really profitable to play alongside 4 other Shortstackers let alone NINE others.. ♦
I also asked my rake I generated yesterday. The conversation was very funny for a NL20 SSS Player:

I went to a snackcounter to buy some frites and stuff and I managed to get 30 minutes too late for the Freeroll lol
So I played the Freeroll and manages to get shortstacked at blinds 600/300. Push/fold mode [ON]
My last hand was this:
UTG Hero (3680)
UTG+1 UTG+1 (16620)
Preflop: Hero is UTG with A♠ 8♠
1 fold, Hero raises to 3680, UTG+1 calls 3680, 6 folds.
Flop (7960) J♦ 7♥ K♣
Turn (7960) 9♣
River (7960) 5♣
Hero shows A♠ 8♠
UTG+1 shows T♠ T♦
UTG+1 wins 7960 with One pair, Tens
I was more frustrated that I couldnt play SSS along this freeroll than I got busted out. Push/fold mode is basically 50/50 or even worse.
I actually don't know what I did between the knockout on Freeroll and the Battle of the Donkeys tournament. Guess I prepared some, entertained some and did something else
Anyway I entered the BoD Tournament eeeiw! ♦
My best hands were in the early 15 minutes -> AQo and AKs.
From there on I got dealt hands like K3s, 52o, 63o - Beerhands. Hmpf.
I pushed with QTs while I Had like 6 BigBlinds left as stack. And I got punched out. Really hard. 9030th place out of 25,000th. Not bad for your first BOD.

It was 23:00 CET so what did I do? Yes Play some SSS yeehaw!
I was kind and happy to see that those stupid SSS tables were gone and saw some bigstacks with nice plrs/flop and reasonable averaged pots on the table.
I popped up 8 as soon as I can . Then I noticed a guy on a table. A shortstacker as well but not noted down as shortstacker yet.
This name was quite familiar.
Ehm... After some searching and investigating it was Jmackenzie! Good to see you on Titan Nl20, didnt knew you were playing there as well!
On a personal note: I did caught you raising with Pocket Nines from UTG+1 and manages to hit trips as you can see on the picture! >:}

Way to go dude with your trips 9, ♦
How went your session?
[x] Fi$h... Loads and loads of Fi$h...
Hey hello goodevening!
First thing I am going to point out is that I changed my Title of the Blog to ShortStacking Campaign. That's what I will do in the next 6 á 9 months. Short ShortStacking
I first couldn't start playing SSS in the afternoon due Real life issues, adminstrative work and stuff and above all, I managed to seek NL20 tables at LIMIT hold'em which were dead and full of shortstackers.. I just fooled my self ♦
So what I did is gathering more stuff to learn from from other sources. Some additional one that gives me more examples to understand things better. What I am lacking atm is Equity calculation in relation with Pot odds/Implied Odds.
Anyways around 19:00 I started my Session. NL20 Titan SSS 8-Tabled.
First heat was from 19:00 CET till 21:15 CET. Then I take a break of 45 minutes and continue from 22:00 till 24:00 CET.
In the first heat, I quickly lost 2 buy-ins. 1 of a stupid stupid mistake and I lost a buyin because my Kings ran against pocket Aces pre-flop.
While drinking my RedBull, things started to improve in terms of getting good hole cards.
I actually give you guys an insight how I keep track of things, I always get a piece of paper and write 'Win'',''Lose'' & ''rebuy'' on it. Wins means I doubled up x times , lose is ofcourse losing a buy-in. and Rebuy means whenever I have 15 BB or less on a table.
The first part is my first heat. I managed to get a solid profit of 3 BuyIns. Not bad as said
I took a 45 minutes break to do something else to refreshen my mind.
Oh man! believe me.. Then the real Jackpot started
My second heat didnt last long, around 325 hands were played but as you could see on the notes paper, I doubled up 9 times while losing only 2 times.
I played sometimes differently than I should because I had notes + stats on some guys. However some variance was needed to trap him.
For instance:
Preflop: Hero is BB with A♦, K♣
4 folds, MP3 raises to $0.80, 3 folds, Hero calls $0.60.
Flop: ($1.70) K♥, 3♥, 4♠ (2 players)
Hero checks, MP3 bets $1.20, Hero raises to $3.00 (All-In), MP3 raises to $3.00 (All-In).
Turn: ($7.70) 6♣
River: ($7.70) A♥
Final Pot: $7.70
Hero shows two pairs, aces and kings (Ad Kc)
MP3 shows a pair of aces (As Qc)
Hero wins with two pairs, aces and kings (Ad Kc)
Thoughts on this hand:
According to the Silver Article ''How to play against another SSS player'' I saw that my Equity with AKo was around 48.6% thus I found it tricky to push here immediately preflop.
What I had in mind is when I hit an Ace or King, I would check/raise him OOP in order to Pot commit himself.
As you could see, I hit a king and checked accordingly because If I donkbetted, he would have folded.
So he continuation bets thus committing himself on any turn card if I called.
So I reraised All-in where he had to call according to his Stack:raise ratio + PotOdds.
Dominated from the start till the End
After +180BB Profit I decided to cover DeKuip's back on NL100 via Teamviewer. I had a great time but he also had a great time!
In the end I saw jmackenzie popping up on the tables where I played, I hope hes doing well
Since I only played 5.5k hands I will show you via graphs how I did today:
Graph of Today (4th of August):

5.5k Sample size says nothing, so Im kinda preparing for my Downswing but I believe with this consistency, I could gain massive profits in August by playing on Titan.
I think that's it for today.. Oh wait..

Great stuff man!
I too am feeling alot better about SSS this month! Last month I learnt so much by getting pounded !! I agree with your thoughts on SSS Gerv. I realised i was making alot of mistakes too maybe raising where i should of just seen the flop then folded etc! Basically my game has improved 100% freeplay didnt know how much you can loose there till you examine your hands
But yes im starting to modify my SSS i've made it tighter in other ways and just added a few hands which ill take to the flop if its the right price
Can't wait to get some advance nl sss coaching soon! definately starting to feel like i can take control of NL 20 tables something i was unable to do at NL10 simply because people would just gamble and call you
Im also feeling this at stars as well! Little bit more control over the pots compared to NL10.
Also I seem to find myself in more 3 way pots at NL20+ which has increased my winnings too because i only find myself all in preflop with monsters
And Gerv i have to add my fried fish moment

[x] Grinding Continues...
I played a 2h session + I got to study 'Every hand revealed by Gus Hansen.
Let's keep this post short as I have to post 2 replies at 1 time
Yesterday I played another good session, after my massive upswing session of the day before yesterday, I ended this one with a decent amount of BigBlind profit too
Enough players, enough fishes, enough money on the tables like the day before. I was really satisfied about my play.
Before I went to bed I read/studied 70 hands of Gus Hansen iN Every Hand revealed. Quite surprising to see his play with Q5o etc. But certainly worth playing LAG style on MTTs I think
To end this post as there wasnt really anything I can remember about this session besides profit, donks and good play.

To be honest I played this 2 hour session disastrous, incredible stupid and above all I was playing like a ShortieFi$h. I think a mix of emotions like happiness, seriousness and delight tears my motivation apart and stuff.
Actually a good lesson learned from the most insane moves I made, I will show one but yes that's was the start of my short tilt moment after the session. So luckily It was at the end of the session while I didnt played anymore. Only 1 person actually knows how I got those mixed feelings but nevertheless, he's not the one to blame: Simply I AM
Let's see the graph shall we?
The last line fall from 20BB to minus 40BB shouldn't exist actually so I actually wanted to show how I played this hand.
Ive got my Elephant license with stats and its quite handy but Im not used to it. It distracts me rather than informs me so I will play NL20 with my own SSS chart only. (And ofcourse my Mind, body & Soul)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with A♣, J♥
3 folds, Hero raises to $0.80, MP3 calls $0.80, 4 folds.
Hey! Did we see this right? MP2 and AJo = Fold right? Yes its a fold but due my stupidity I thought I was MP3 AND I also thought I was basically CO since 1 of them plays tight as hell #MISTAKE 1
Flop: ($1.90) 3♦, 8♠, 4♦ (2 players)
Hero checks, MP3 checks.
Check OOP? Well we've could have bet 1/2 potsized OOP but any PocketPair will call us - even AK for the Odds
Turn: ($1.90) 3♥ (2 players)
Hero bets $1.10, MP3 calls $1.10.
I start betting? Why? No Freaking Idea. Checking-behind mostly is a WEAK SIGN but ONLY DURING FREEPLAYS. Oh and he calls but that's obvious as I mentioned on the Flop #MISTAKE 2
River: ($4.10) 7♣ (2 players)
Hero bets $2.00 (All-In), MP3 calls $2.00.
I thought about this for a long time, Basically there is NO FE but when I was in some kind of Tilt mode I thought there was... Also I have trash, air, nothing, niks, etc. and I am going allin giving Villain Pot Odds 3:1 and a decent Equity to call with AQ+ and Any PP.
I could saved this $2 but naw, Devil Gerv wanted to lose, so he lose:
#MISTAKE 3
Final Pot: $8.10
Results follow (highlight to see):
Hero shows a pair of threes (Ac Jh)
MP3 shows two pairs, tens and threes (Td Th)
So obvious he had a PocketPair but I was blind with Anger, Fury & Distress..

In fact the session wasnt that bad but my performance , motivation and dedication was just at a Rock-Bottom level. Im embarrased..
On the other hand, tomorrow I will be playing twice as focussed and motivated to take back whats mine and that's my Upswing and good performance. I should just play accordingly and I will be fine.
Another thing to note: There werent many players on NL20 so I played on every 10 FR table I could find so P/f was sometimes as low as it could be.
So time for something + positive:

Basically my day wasnt all that bad but it drained my concentration away.
I will be more careful next time for these kind of situations. I have to adjust accordingly to my surroundings. Not the other way around

[x] 7th of August, Seventh day =
A rest day! Really?
No actually not, after I was done working, I felt exhausted thus not ready to play my A+ Game
As instead I did what I had to do and that is: Learning & Evaluating.
As I have recorded some plays and still got my hand history, I re-evaluated my play based on Odds/Outs/Implied Odds I learned Today.
I learned much today to utilize it tomorrow.

As I said before: I learned more things about utilizing Equity, Odds/Outs & Implied Odds
I achieved this by studying PS Articles about it (Bronze), using Additional online material, a chapter in the book from Daniel Negreanu, some parts in Gus Hansen's book. Also I used the Sample Hand forum whenever the judge gave calculations etc.
As a last addition, I used the Contentweek on the Dutch Forums about Equity, Odds&Outs, Implied odds etc.
With a pint of beer in my left hand , I end my day with a decent amount of knowledge about it. I am sure that I do not remember everything by tomorrow but that's something I just have to repeat repeat repeat ♦
I found this picture I found very funny he-he:

Try to say it many times, I obviously failed !

[x] Backlash!
So after 1 day-off studying and increasing my Math skills, I was ready-set-go! for some Friday Night Ownage on Titan Poker NL20.
It didnt started until 18:48 CET so I had plenty of time to prepare myself as Titan was dead before this time on NL20.
So what I did basically regarding Poker was watching some WSOP episodes on a kind of YouTube variant (its an Affliate so), Studying some Math articles of another Affliate site (its part of FullTilt), reading blogs, rethink my SSS approach regarding my SHC, check Sample hands, recheck my own hands played the day before yesterday and the most important thing of all: Reviewing my own play during the recording! It took like 4 hours to compress and stuff but I will manage to decrease those 4 hours in the future.
Its commented in Dutch but for private reasons, I only send it off to Leo
Well basically that was my Friday Afternoon and I think It was a profitable situation to spend my time.
I played 2 Sessions of 2 hours each (so 4 hours total), 8 á 9 tabled and without HUD even though I got the license!
~ First session
I managed to double up quite early with my AK offsuit on BB, Button raised to 3BB and I reraise All-in for max. Value. He calls and shows Ace-Five Offsuit. Easy result.
The next preflop confrontation when I had AQs on BB again. BTTN raises to 3BB while MP1 limps. I reraises All-in for maximum value and he calls, He shows Tens.
Flop: K 4 J
Turn: 7
Titan's River: Ten!
We will see more of these River things. Pretty frustrating.
Some minutes later my Jacks dated with 2 lovely Ladies but in the end they got backstabbed by them. B*tches
SB raises to 3BB as OpenRaiser and I see Jacks. So I push and he shows KQo.
Nothing happens and I earned the Pot.
A misread of an OpenRaise steal from SB to 2.5BB gave him a profit of 20BB.
Very stupid to call with QTs on BB and then reraise his C-bet to 20BB while you have Air.. Stupid indeed.
AKo vs TT, and I hit a king on the Turn. weeii
AKs vs AJo postflop while the board was K Q 4 rainbow.
I go all-in because I was pot committed, he calls.
A Ten on the River made Titan famous again.
AKo lost from AQo on the River, a Lady drowning in the River *grr*
SB raises to 3BB again as OpenRaiser, I see 2 Jacks when looking at my Hole cards, Pretty much pushing all-in and he shows Pocket 7s. I double up.
My 2 lovely ladies failed to use their seductive manoeuver against Pocket Kings.
AQ vs Jacks, an Ace and Queen on the Flop. GG.
Kings versus AQo , Kings withstand and wins
Didnt expected that he had Kings so I pushed post-flop with my Jacks. ugh.
My gentlemen against the lovely ladies (KKvsQQ), As expected, Males are superior!
And that was my first session, pretty swingy huh? I had to get used to it but I played well after a Tilt so Im pretty satisfied.
I took a break of 1 hour, to play some video games, relax, Supper and stuff. Getting my focus back on the game
~ Session Two
This session went a lot better but I expected it as I played from 21:30 CET till 23:00 CET and more fishes/tables were available to fish from as a Fisherman.
To keep it short: I won 7 preflop confrontations and lost only 2. This is very good!
The thing that I have to work on is my Post-flop thinking as I need some more time for it to rethink everything. I rush things. Not Good!
Trying to take the time for a decision takes a lot of patience while other tables are popping up when playing.
But taking everything in consideration before making a decision will result in less variance and a better result. Therefore I have to implement this in my game so I will note this down on my little scrap paper to remind me of it.
As a Dutch saying goes: 'Haastige Spoed is zelden Goed' (Rushing your decisions are seldom solid decisions).
As Always I have here my FriedFish moment. This time its with the SlowplayFish! I was kinda flabbergasted that I saw his hole cards as I had labeled him as Fi$h because of his play a couple of hands ago.
I will not let you wait for the...

RoadRunner raises to $3.45 (All-In).

Hero shows a full-house, sixes full of kings (Kd 6s)
SlowPlayFish shows a full-house, fours full of sixes (4h 4c)
]Hero wins with a full-house, sixes full of kings (Kd 6s)
Tomorrow, I will be playing some SSS sessions as well, I think I might record 1 or 2. Anyway I good day for me, not too bad not too good so there are things I am going to work on:
1] My PostFlop Play but this is linked with:
2] Taking time before I make a decision. Calculating Pot Odds/Implied Odds, rethink everything he has done in the past, notes etcetera.
Cheers,
Gerv
I found a nice picture of you on my pc Gerv
Back from the time when we were both a CB admin...

[x] Double Belly Busters a la Swedish
Today I did an afternoon session and a very long saturday-night evening session.
Approx. I was like playing poker for 4.5 hours.
As you can see in the previous post, I purchased Team Fortress 2 for Entertainment purposes whenever I am not playing Poker.
My afternoon session was very swingy but with decent opponents as expected. I ended up 20 BB short, nevertheless I was satisfied about my play.
Ehm after that (around 16:15 CET) I watched WWE! SmackDown *hehe* I still like the show
So after dinner I tried out my new game for an hour (18:00 CET - 19:00 CET)
Then from 19:00 CET till 20:15-20:30 I played 1 session.
After that I played some Team Fortress 2 for 45 minutes to relax.
My 3rd session started on 22:00 and it was scheduled till 00:00
As you all see at the time I posted this reply, things were going the wrong way.
Let me first start with the graph:
As you can see a not very positive graph however by just being patience I felt I could manage to end this session in the green numbers.
Patience is Virtue
What the 3rd session actually did was organizing a donkey festival with people calling my pushes post-flop with a Gutshot draw. They all hitted their draw unfortunately and made me go wild/tilt. So I had to end the session to prevent some serious damage on my Bankroll.
The other reason I was about to tilt was due the fact I considered myself card-dead on 8 tables at once. 43o, J8s, Q2s, A2o - You know the Beercards.
Well I could post the gutshot hands in my FriedFish moment but I want to keep this post short so I can play TF2 ♦

BB checks, MP2 checks, Hero bets $2.40 (All-In), BB folds, MP2 calls $2.40.
Turn: ($8.70) 5♦

Maybe I gave them the odds to call but I found this very unlikely. NL20 is still full of gamblers unfortunately
At least they were swedish
... not that that matters lol.
However the Rakeback compensates this loss but I am still sick of these suckouts as everyone is confronted with them.
Life goes on, so does mine - Exiting early was the best option as I had 2 tables open where I had doubled up. Sacrificing them is really a waste of money.
Tomorrow I will be back. Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger as Daft Punk song suggest.
Happy fragging,
Gerv
