♠ Everything started after the BMP..

Whenever I was back from Munich, I had this great afterfeeling or aftershock about how great it was. Ever since I met this crazy crew, the parties are getting better!

What was getting less was my motivation to play cards. I just do not wanted to improve myself, put volume in hands to negate variance. So what was it what I wanted to do? Playing video-games.

But to put it more precisely: I did something I already was pretty good at and I enjoyed the routine of killing, kniving, stabbing people in Team Fortress 2 and Call of Duty 2 and 4.

100NL SH was a mess at first ending the first month on this new limit as a 100bb player marginally losing 3 BI, no biggie. I forecasted it with my conditions and skill.

What was really bothering me to stop playing poker is that this phenomen called ''making bad calls and not getting called with your vBets''. Yes true Phil ''I'm a fish'', hope you are happy

In the mean time after the BMP munich, I took a subscription at Leggo and while I should not be talking about other organizations - I just f* do mmkay?

I chose for Leggo since I found DC somehow boring as in intonation of some instructors. Ofcourse you have Jay, Emil, Andrew there who I really really like watching videos to.

Leggo gave me AE''fuckin''Jones, Bobbofittos, Boywonder, Probability, Isura and several others. Some were British which makes listening somehow plausible as it never éver sounds boring but more. Let's say extraordinary.

I cannot say I studied those videos at most I rewatched those. I watched HSNL/MSNL/SSNL 6max videos, some FR but also some HU videos. The forum was kinda meh.

I do want to thank Boywonder and Isura for giving me more structure in my life

♥ Future Sights

With several events in my life, I still had to apply for Universities next year!

I still had this Nightmare on Gerv street anno 2009 freshly burning in my mind since I think the word Naivety or Laidback was really really appropriate for this situation.

Communication was bad, the results was even worse. End of the day: My 1st choice was studying in Sweden. Reason I got rejected: Lack of communicating that my exams were done in July + sending the documents in too late.

2nd choice was ''Econometrics'' at Maastricht, Holland. Reason I got rejected: I had to take the Math test in like May or sth like that but it was already June.

3rd choice was ''Accountacy at Nyenrode''. Reason I couldn't do it: deadline was already expired.

4th choice was the Army. Reason I couldn't join was that they were like full of fish and they were afraid I was eating all of them to make a great Gervian Empire

Anyways I did a fail-study in Rotterdam studying Business Administration. IMO it was too theoratical, too mass-orientated (I was in a football stadium following lectures with 1100 students) and too much focused on Management rather than Economics.

I didn't want to commit 3 years of my life doing this so screw that.

Back to my university applications. I had to rush things and seriously hit myself in order to do certain things.

Applications are sent off to Canada and Denmark with DHL. I will pick a few studies in the Netherlands to prevent a second disaster.

♣ Now, now, now is the time!

In order to get more experience in BSS and thus beating 100NL hence playing better Poker, I introduced some new learning concepts I think can be handy for everyone. The time you spent for those is relatively the same as you normally would do.

♣ Record your own sessions (with/out voice) and watch that video instead of a PokerStrategy vid the day after
♣ Warmup session (Getting used to thinking in ranges, equity and maximize vBets) on either FR 100NL or SH 50NL

Furthermore I have a bi-weekly private coaching with Thommy aka TwiceT. So far I only have one of 2 hours but I think this is great boost for me to get a direct second opinion, to get a direct insight in how to play solid aggro.

FYI Twice, I abuse the button more or less now and literally fold >90% of my bigblinds against my will though.. Oh and I stopped stealing from SB against potential difficult opponents!

The problem of multi currencies network is that whenever your bankroll is in the weakest currency, you are effectively not playing 100NL but more 150NL or 200NL even (with pounds.) hence BRM is not taking full effect and I am pretty aware of that.

I will dedicate March and April to 100NL so there is no deadline for me to be on 200NL.

I took an offer for 6 months on Stox so I will be studying Ed Miller again but with more knowledge and different insights than 8 months ago!

I will continue to study the LTBR, Easy game, bobbo's bible eBooks. They are great in the early mornings despite the fact that I read the newspapers as well ♦

The promise of working out has failed but I prioritized dealing with applications more importantly than my own health

♦ Building to a better game

I think a blogpost without pictures is sometimes too boring

So despite I run bad, good, break-even, whatever as long as I learn from those mistakes the money is spent ++EV.

I have to take this game a bit more serious than just relentlessly playing whatever I want - A structured program while preparing for my exams was vital to my success (I passed it with ''Honours standing'' if you are from Canada :P)

I was hoping for some replies but as I see my blogpost now... It looks like a really really long Essay

From now on, I will give you frequent updates on how my life is going. maybe some results + hands I played is interesting as well!

Well first I was waking up on a sunny monday not knowing what to do. It resulted in doing 6 hours of watching crap vids, eating, gaming and some useless stuff.

They showed me in their vids how they do it and why. I think creating routine in your life (especially mine because I never like ''random events'' as I will definitly tilt from it. For example, I had an appointment with someone on Tuesday but on that same tuesday he was calling it off, that pisses me off.) utilizes the time you are given in a day and effectively can plan the things you want to do on a day (Review, theory, videos, playing etc.)

Sure, thinking in ranges, getting to know some dynamics again and most importantly: making stupid mistakes.

I saw a pattern in my game that I was doing stupid mistakes in the beginning of every session. I see this the same as soccer: you do a warming-up as well?

Instead of a FR session, reviewing your hands and play with the equilator and EV calculator is also a solid alternative. I mostly prefer that though

As your game develops, also does your music taste and I listen currently to a complete different genre while Learning from eBooks (I print them out so I lunch/learn at the same time for 1 hour) or while playing.

Having the luck of downloading 3500KB/s instead of 450KB/s I used to have, I have those files in my own hands within seconds of reading this blogpost.

The stuff I am currently listen to while grinding are songs WITHOUT lyrics well at least lyrics I do not understand and are NOT catchy so TiK ToK by Ke$ha is hereby ruled out

Sometimes where things go differently than expected like having the best of the coinflips or the opposite: not then I listen to some pepup music WITH lyrics (duhrrrrrrrrobvious)

Today I recorded a session for TwiceT (He should delete the old one) for his leakfinder series, Calta was first I think but I requested to record a new one since my game is changing. This 45 min. vid is containing loads of action (I marked like 20 hands in 367 hands which I want to double check on)

I also reduced the amount of tables from 6 to 4/5, I think this can keep me thinking on a high level rather than mediocre plays.

Despite the fact that the network I'm playing on is pretty fishy, I think I will still find a 2nd platform to play on. I'm still scouting the area.

I felt ok calling TT OOP against BTN opener and wasn't so sure if I was going broke against this guy if I 3bang. He just joined the table afaik or at least showed more tightness than loose activities.

I also expected BB to sqz the f** out of us since he exceeds 10% sqz and did it frequently on this table.

Now BTN like snapcalls on this squeeze and figuring out he is pretty polarized (he calls here with AQ-ATs, AQo,AJo, KQ-KJs,QJs,JJ-99 or sth like that) , I think I can let him make a mistake by folding that or calling.
Therewore with 2 janky ranges + shitloads of deadmoney, I guess I took opportunity and jammed this.

Just got a letter today from the danish university saying that I get to know after 15th of april whether Im enrolled in the program or not

Last few days have been really In-the-zone sessions where I was feeling fit, got my full concentration on the game despite results.

We playing poker in the poker world seems like big business. Despite the fact that we do not play the same game.
Some play NLHE
Some play Limit Hold'em
Some play Stud
Some play Badugi

You name it and it probably exist.

I saw the poker world since 2008 so I am relatively young in this atmosphere. What I do saw with my own little eyes is Evolution. Back in the days when I couldn't auto top up at Stars - that's been fixed. Back in the days when I couldn't remove myself from gazillion waiting lists - that's been fixed. The only thing that hasn't been fixed is the PartyPoker software: despite being the third room in the world: it still is a pain in the ass. Congratulations! You must have been spending money on something else useful. ♦

Now looking at another thing. We first got the river check/raise by Chan what was revolutionizing. Second in 1998-2000ish we got Gus Hansen playing junk52 hands like 7:h4:c , T:c4:s because he had the philosophy of pure raw aggression with FEQ being a good synergy partner.
Last but not least in today's world we got the Durrrrrrrrs, the OMGalfonds, the AE'Fuckin''Jones, Boywonder, CTS - you name your own idol and I will probably say yes

The software, the players but more importantly the game is ever Evolving. Believe it or not but back in the days on the Ongame (BWIN) and Everest network, you could shortstack with TEN BBS WOOHOO! Ultra Ministack strategy! To be honest, I puke on those players because in the end you are only cutting your own hands by limiting your bb/100

When that stopped, I was relieved as a twenty bb shortstacker. I was relieved it was not me (included) but them.

I see Poker as Micro Economics: players are customers, poker platforms are entrepreneurs, highstakes players are icons in commercials (HSP/PAD) and people who invest cutting-edge strategies are innovators.

Everyone knows the Law of Supply/Demand. In today's society more and more 24tabling break-even regs ánd winning regs are complaining about shortstacks.
I think that's fine since everyone has freedom of speech.

I also agree the Enterprises, Entrepreneurs and Poker Platforms are intervening in an unbalanced Poker-society.

Let me quote a well reputable manager:

Probably within 5 minutes on 1 of your tables, you will see someone openshove from UTG for 20-22bb, now that's disruptive. (and annoying :f_cool:)

I see some playing shorthanded SSS, I see now people playing 30/35bb SSS (CAP?) - innovation in this business.

To end this mini-essay / column / train of thought let me first quote several PSA:

B. Ring Game buyin changes: No Limit and Pot Limit games are having their buyin ranges changed.

We are doing this based on both popular demand and our own internal analysis.
Cap: No change (already at 1:1 for max/min)

Buyin amounts in big-bet hold'em and omaha cash games has been a hot topic recently both in forum threads and in emails from players. Many players have requested changes to our table minimum and/or maximum buyins while others have requested that they stay the same.

PokerStars plans to announce a decision and implement changes (if any) by mid-April, 2010.

Today 24th of March 2010 - Cake Poker Official PSA
We have decided that we're going to raise the minimum buy-in in our NLHE games to 30 big blinds, effective April 8th. There will be an official press release coming out shortly, but most of you know the context:

* We weren't eager to do this; to a first approximation, we believe that people who play by the rules of poker should be allowed to do so however they wish. [1]
* However, 20 BB short-stack shoving is disruptive enough that it removes a lot of the "poker play" (and thus enjoyment) for many players. We have to give that serious consideration.
* We will be partitioning our tables at $.25-$.50 and below into "regular" (30-100 BB buy-in) and "shallow" (20-50 BB buy-in) tables. We will not partition in larger games until the critical mass of players in those games justifies such a partition.

Currently there are 111k Cashgame players around the globe playing poker. I don't know if these are unique players or total tables times 9 or whatsoever. But I just consider now that these 111k are unique and not 24tabling regulars that are doubledoubledoubledouble counted

Affected Players with minimum buyin: 75kish
% players affected: 67% if Stars decides to raise the buyin
Currently affected: 30%

If you are a shortstacker and reading this line atm, stop! Do not hang yourself or commit suicide Also whining doesn't help, that's a clear form of frustration. You only can sent an email to Stars Support and hope that they won't raise it.

But if they don't , be prepared to see a Tsunami of fellow 20bb players. Be prepared because it is Survival of the Sickest after all.

Now I am already looking at the next phenomen after shortstackers have been nuked down by the UWBR (United Whiners & BreakEven Regs).
