Hmm definately. I really need to learn this game and get the roll because it is soo damn fishy, PLO live ♦.
Today watched some vids again, played some SH/HU and p00ned and got p00ned a lot ♦. Crazy game
Anyways I think I should really quit playing mtt's. I just checked my sharkscope graph today and it is really bad. I already knew that I didnt do that well last months. Final tabled 4 times or so but came 9th every single time. I really believed that my edge has got to be huge in these extremely soft fields but honestly I don't know if it is. In mtt's it is VERY hard to know if you are a winning player or not because you basically can't get a samplesize in your life. Today I played some again and I just make bad plays I think. Well I just perceive ranges etc wrong I think because people tend to play so passive/weaktight/bad/stationish that I just make wrong valuebets/bluffs and so forth.
For graph lovers:

I shipped one a year ago and since then haven't been able to have a notable cash. I also played some mtt sats in the meantime which probably wasnt a good idea either. So in 2011 I will probably just try to not play more than 1 mtt a week or so because I could use my time more useful. Plus every time that I got deep and get sucked out I'm in ultra-tilt-mode-deluxe ♦.
So less mtt, more cash pwnage (not that I played a lot of mtts before but still, its a waste). Im gonna play the last 2 events of this BCOOP tho. Tomorrow $109 1R1A PLO and sunday $320 ME.
SHIP IT ONE TIME BABY!!!
This is what I hope every single time

Gl, imo MTTs edge>cg edge but the optimum strategy is alot less creative (well atleast for most of the tounrnament) so cg are more fun imo. MTT varience (as your grpahs shows) really sucks too.
Didn't play the PLO event because I wasnt in the mood.
Today I felt fresh to start the ME of BCOOP and FTOPS but busted in both (still have some blinds in FTOPS tho, not much :P) after 4 hours or so. I think I made some pretty good plays and 1 or 2 mistakes. Ran pretty horribly as well. In BCOOP I busted because BU squeezed MP3 and CO, I shoved in blinds with TT and was up against QQ. In FTOPS I get it in with flopped flush against overpair and he somehow won the hand with a fh.
I have been thinking about tournaments a lot these days and I think I am just going to completely remove them from my game.
Reasons being:
- Hourly rate is lower then in cashgames
- Very bad playing shedule (sometimes play for 15 hours straight + you can't quit when you want to)
- Lots of players are really bad so you learn less by playing (I think)
- It is just frustrating to play for 10 hours and just get some change (ofc this shouldnt be an argument as long as its +EV)
- Variance is enormous
Anyways, feel free to reply on this assumptions.
For me it's clear. I'm gonna try to not play any mtt AT ALL during 2011, except maybe big PLO tourneys. This is also only for online play. Maybe I'm still gonna play some live donkaments just for funs.
My love for cash PLO is actually becoming really big and my desire to improve in this game is much bigger then in NLHE. Last days I hardly played but I watched tons of vids, read some books, read trough the german handjudge forum etc.
2011 is gonna be PLO crushaments ♠_biggrin:

Btw: while typing this post I got busted in ftops as well ♦
completly agree with your assumptions (except my MTT hourly is probally higher than my cash hourly).

well I think that if you pay maximum focus to the tournaments that your MTT edge is much much higher than in cashgames - thanks to the phases of MTTs, many players play terribly wrong in MTTs.
One example - yesterday in Sunday Brawl, I played well and was running good, so I was like 75./430 and then I played two extremely stupid hands and was directly busto 100% due to my wrong play. If only I would be able to stay alert and play well all the tournament, that could have been a good chance to hit big cash. Conclusion: If I get much more experience in MTT, all the decisions will become standard as it is in CG for me now, and I can be able to be much more successful.
Actually I am thinking to do exactly the opposite - to switch from CG to MTT. I know players who can earn over 100k annualy in online MTTs and I don´t think they are generally much better in poker than I am. They just play MTTs and play them well.
I am thinking to grind RUSH tournaments on demand that start every 15minuts on FT in order to get some experience and sample to assess my winrate.
Well I'm 100% sure that the level in tourneys in lower then in CG. But it still is very hard to get an hourly of $150+ in mtts. So for me CG are definately more profitable.
Don't switch man, you are gonna hate your life ♦. Also very hard to combine with work life imo
yeah, I agree with your comments on time demands etc. that´s tough to be MTT pro. But I´d like to improve a bit in MTTs, cause I am buying tickets from ftp and medals and would like to be able to turn these in better cash ♦
I will prly still have rush CG as my main game, cause it is relatively easy to grind up some cash there. And I want to do the coaching with you
Played some more PLO today . Watched 3 more vids as well. I am really preparing myself to crush midstakes PLO asap so I can own it up next year in my quest for SNE.
Obviously improving as a player remains top priority but I made some calculations and I don't have to grind so many hours a day as expected. Just with professional volume I can make it. Ofc if I feel that my game is getting hurt because of it, I'll change gears.
Another thing I did today:
Tickets to Philippines are booked
Yeah baby
Can't wait to go there and pwn the tables+sicko stuff outside of it.
One important thing of PLO I learned/realised today is the following:

boa123 raises to $38
Omg another tight 3bettor, he 4bets!! Zomg he also has aces!! Well if both of them have aces my equity is probably 33%+? But what against the deep guy? If I get it in with him, will I have good equity in side pot as well? I probably do since i hit many low boards. Okay, lets call maybe SB doenst have aces and still wants to come along.

After the hand I checked the equity and I was kinda surprised. I thought I would had something like 37-40 maybe but I actually have 47% 3way!! + small favorite in side pot.
Some drawbacks:
- They wont end up with aces all the time ofc but given their 3bet stats I think it is very likely and chances of both having aces is probably 85%+
- I can not call every hand profitably I guess (I have made some calculations)
KQJT has 31% against AAxx/AAxx
QQ52 has 29%
7799 has 42% (equity increases to 38 if they have one x blocker)
8765 has 44%
368J has 39%
-It's high variance play
So basically every hand that isnt all big cards or one pair with 2 reall unconnected unsuited cards is just a shove against their range. Even a complete crap hand like 368J no suits is a favorite... Then ofc my hand is a monster here
Just wanted to share these thoughts with you guys. The rest of the session I couldn't manage to win an all-in though :f_p:.
Goodnight, tomorrow more p00ning!
i got into a similar spot with Q9XXs I think. It was 4way, 2 guys were short and stuck it in with some crap, I had 25% equity, big stack had 40%+ equity with AAXX, shitty spot to be in.
PLO keeps surprising me every day. A fun hand here:

Opponent is fairly unknown but he has a big stack and has 24/17 stats over 25 hands so not completely fishy I guess. Flopraise can mean anything from 2p to sets to straight to some wrap thing like 79T, with fd maybe. I dont want to get freerolled so I decide to call. I also have A of hearts so I can bluff on hearts as well, if I 3bet F and hearts peel off I have less FE I think.
Turn is a nice card because I just dont think he has too many strong flushes in his range (hard to have K/Q flush for him, maybe something like 79JK with fd). So I do think that my hand is best here a decent amount of the time but because my FE is soo high its probably a more +EV play to start bluffing. This way I can also get him off a chop. After his call I think he mostly has set/2p here or low flush and he is gonna have to fold the river a high % of the time (certainly enough to be profitable).
I didn't expect it to be a valuebet though
Maybe he was thinking that u have either nuts or smth weak/busted and he dint put u on a flish that much (would u play flush the same way?) so he called to pick up ur AhXXX bluffs ... Well, didnt work this time
How hard was he tilting after that?
How many tables do u play?
Well I play high flushes almost always in the same way. Because he will shutdown with any straight/2pair/set on the turn but still wants to call a bet with that.
3 tables rush, so I don't know how hard he tilted after that hand :P. Pretty harsh calldown though, I think the bare Ah is the only hand I ever bluff here and I probably vbet Q+ flushes.
+ I never ever have something weaker than his hand after calling flop, besides maybe some 46 or 9TJ myself :P, so he barely beats a bluff as well
I miss skype
Played some more PLO today, I'm realling starting to feel comfortably with the game. I feel that I'm trying to understand it little by little
Ofc playing with retards helps

Today I played exclusively PLO HU. For next year I am torn between going for SNE or playing PLO HU.
I'm sure I want to make PLO my main game. Everytime I play NLHE again I find it so boring and easy (lower complexity). The choice is thus: do I pick SH or HU? Let's consider both options:
SH
- If I'm gonna play SH I will go to stars and try to chase SNE. Just because PLO has a very high rake (10bb/100+) thus a nice rb deal is mandatory. I even don't have to brainlessly grind for 8hours/day to get there. With 4 hours a day it should be doable.
- More stable form of income I think, especially with the big rb bonuses.
HU
- If I'm going to play HU I will have to play on different platforms to get the best table selection/action possible. I will gain more XP cause playing HU is way more intense and you have to think much deeper, thusmy improvement will be higher.
- I find it very fun to play.
- Probably the best mindset training there is. If I play PLO HU for a few months, I will have the sickest mindset ever (or die in the process).
So atm I'm leaning towards HU because I think its best for my game and also very profitable cause people are just pretty bad.
Any thoughts from you guys on this matter will be appreciated!
So this post will be an overview of my play today.
I played over 8hours which is really demanding. I really feel mentally challenged (lol this sounds retarded, but I mean that my brains really worked hard and that I have a satisfied feeling atm because of it).
I shotted on PLO200 with very aggro brm. My main site is 24h poker because I get good action there + player pool seems really soft. I have around €2k there so I decided to take a 10bi shot
and drop back when I lost 2 stacks. I did this because I went from 600 tot 2k on PLO100 and people were so bad that I thought my edge on 200 will still be really big against weaker players.
Here some nice hands, most of opponents were sick aggro and the game was one gamblefest^^:

This hand is against biggest maniac ever, I 4betted him a few times and he played pretty straightforwardly to it altho he wasnt afraid to 3/4/5/6/potcbet pretty light :f_biggrin:, this was basically a roulette situation but with 63% eq for me :f_p:, but I almost always have the required equity to get it in. Std play was just to call lots of 3bets, but sometimes 4betting seemed fine (I do it with this lower hand cause he gave me lots of respect on hi boards already and not so much on low ones).

Overall I'm pretty confident with my play. Especially some opponents I soulreaded very hard by analysing them to death. But some of them had pretty big tells, like fe when c/c F or T, he always donked the next street when he got there. ALWAYS :f_eek:. So that is a pretty sizeable tell.
The first shot on 200 HU went pretty ok, I ran kinda bad but I'm still up a good amount and I'm especially happy with the way that i played. In the past I tilted pretty hard when my opponents ran hot in PLO HU but today I really focused hard on making the best decisions. Below a graph:

Next week I'm gonna try to play some more of this so I can get a better feel to make a final conclusion about HU vs SH.
Last thing I need to say to everyone:
Merry Christmas!!
