Hai!

My name is Kate and I am a winner.

This is how I look like:

Spoiler

I found out about poker from one of my cybersport friends. My career started in 2009 and since then I guess my biggest accomplishment was playing 200NL short-handed last summer.

But resently something went wrong.

Not having a decent banrkoll-management, having a lot of cashouts, my poor poker skills, laziness and stubborness got me straight to the bottom.

Suddenly I realized I was a looser. I didn't know how to win money anymore, I didn't know how to think. All I could do was whine about how bad things were.

And this is the spot where we say goodbye to Katie-the-looser and say hello to Katie-the-winner!

The allmighty mister Gordon Gekko is going to help me with it.

I watched his video-series on Pokerstrategy (it's called "Champions stand up one more time than the rest") and in the last one of them Gordon said he was looking for ppl from different countries for his new challenge.
His previous student, Steven, has achieved so much with Gordon's help (you can check it out here How to Make a Million, OWN Life and become a Fucking Meathead (NO Steroids, NO Hookers)), and I decided I want it too.

I'm going to start my challenge with the "HU mastermind" course, made by Gordon.

I've always dreamed of playing HU but I was scared even to try it. Here's my time now.

Primary goals for the next month:

- go throught the HU mastermind course, post here at least once every 2 days about my progress
- never-ever-ever forget about fitnes

Okay, let's do this!

Hi Kate!

Gordon Gekko is the nutz, so is HU mastermind. I am gonna work with him If I manage to Blog for 60 days in the row:). Being scared with poker is always a loosing strategy, so try not give to much about the money.
GL with your journey.

Sub'd.

So did you buy Gordons' HU mastermind course, or did you get picked like the way he mentioned in the 'champions stand up one more time' series, where you have to be dead-serious for atleast 90days? If the 2nd is true i assume those offers are still available? seeing the first vid is already 6months+ old.

Hey,
I was picked. I'm not sure if the deal is still on, I applied as soon as the 6th part of this series got out, I guess it was almost a month ago?

Day 1.

Despite the blog-making, I found some energy to watch some videos from the course, make a HUD and even managed to do my first homework!

I had to steal 100% from the button. Well, considering I did that last summer on 200NL, it was neither a problem nor something new.

However, I had some problems of another kind.

First of all, I wasn't able to find myself an opponent for quite a while: three of them just sitted out on me after a couple of hands! I've never thought it would piss me off so much.

Then, FINALLY, I found a short fish. And played one of the first hands of the match terribly.

But then I got myself together and got it done (4NL, short fish).

The rake is ENORMOUS!!!

How to deal with 100% steal: defend more by calling or 3betting, try to get some pots postflop since the range is inappropriately wide.

Well, that's all for today, hope I'll do and play more tomorrow!

I'm well aware of that, but it's the only way to learn when you are almost broke.

Because I suck and I don't have money for coaching and I'm sick of it.

Sure, girls can get some free coaching (if you know what i mean :]), but I'm pretty desperate so I guess a switch to HU poker is just what I need.

Day 2.
Hello-hello!
I made a video so you'd know who you're dealing with.

Okay, so today I did some homework.
!!!DO NOT OPEN THIS SPOILER IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN SOME BASIC POKER HANDS!!!

Spoiler

1. Minraising and openfolding (I can start widening my calling range against a minraise aswell as 3bet them lighter):
a) The guy started 3betting me all the time, so I decided to minraise him.
http://wt.ag/16Xdtc4
http://wt.ag/16XduwH

b) He was either calling or 3betting, rarely folding, so I started to fold the bottom 20% of my range.
http://wt.ag/16XdCwp
http://wt.ag/16XdDQQ

2. 3betting:
So I played two guys, one of them spewed all his money to me and the other one was 4betting alot against my 100% 3bet. I guess he should've started calling because I was about to start shoving over his 4bets (didn't do it because it was the end of my homework video).

a) 3betting a suited hand because a guy's a folder.
http://wt.ag/1c0AhgS
http://wt.ag/1c0Awsi

b) 3betting broadway for value against a calling station.
http://wt.ag/1c0AIIa
http://wt.ag/1c0ACQP

3. Defending 3bets:
a) called a 3bet because it was like 30% and I figured he was a tricky checker - prefered to check his gud hands and bet his air so I played the guessing game:
http://wt.ag/1c0BnZX

b) Same guy, Ahigh was basically a nuts against him but not on a board like this and not vs a cbetpot:
http://wt.ag/1c0BC7t

4. 4betting (200bb deep I guess I can 4bet wider for value because ppl don't like to fold when there are so many implied odds out there):
a) I did 4bet for value. Should've made it bigger cuz we're deep but I can't get used to those sizings:
http://wt.ag/1c0Epxg

Here I thought a guy was tilted and will get the money in light preflop:
http://wt.ag/1c0ECke

b) I thought it was a small 4bet and I would get paid off if I hit anything:
http://wt.ag/1c0ERfa

And this one I would've shoved if I had a little bit more equity because I was 3betting that guy 100% of the time:
http://wt.ag/1c0EWzs

Well' that's all for today. Night night.
