So month is pretty much over as I'm flying to Dublin tomorrow for UKIPT shenanigins. Been pretty swingy for the small vol. I put in:
About $1.5k with rakeback and a similar amount for each of coaching and staking so a decent enough month.
Pretty excited about my first big live tournament. Hoping I won't disgrace myself too much...
If Im back by Sunday 2nd March it means I didn't get too deep. If I'm back on the 4th it means I either:
1. got deep; or
2. had too many Guinesses.

Yeah, it's definitely a disadvantage when your opponents see you counting how many BB you have on your fingers ♦
I'm kidding, obv. But certainly being able to handle one's chips confidently and thus bet with confidence is a big factor. Having technical ability only takes you so far if your opponents can tell when you are in your comfort zone and when you are unsure.

I concur, and it's probably one of the main reasons I haven't played live since October 2012!

Were you not surprised how terrible some players were in such a high BI?
I do hear that the standard in UKIPT's has improved in the last 2 years though.
As a poker experience I think live is very alluring. Peeling the cards, feeling your face twitch, flopping the nuts. Online sometimes feels like one big maths equation (well, basically it is) that merges into one (well, it does).
The fear factor live is great. I especially like to punish the poor guy who is quite obviously crapping himself 
and his mate with the matching hoody on.
I think I'm just excited because I'm playing live tomorrow. (to do my load, probably)

One of those scenarios where it would be good to have some video of yourself so you can analyze your tells after the fact. Dunno how to make that happen as, at least in my local, photographs/filming is banned.
I watched the live stream of this year's PCA and was impressed by the way the winner behaved. To me, regardless of his cards, good or bad, he seemed to give off very little. And, when betting, whether for value or bluffing, I couldn't pick up reads on him. Someone to model on perhaps.
If you haven't played much live and are intent on going to vegas and there is a local casino that has live, cheapish tournaments regularly, then perhaps going along once a week to practice being at a live table might help. Pretty much the only way to get better at that stuff is to practice. Worst comes to the worst, purchase some play chips and fondle them / practice card tricks while watching videos. Like any activity that takes you out of your comfort zone, once you have been doing it enough, your adrenals get sick of spraying great wads of adrenaline into your blood stream and it seems a lot more comfortable.
