I also suggest watching the latest video from THENOSE, its the best one he did that I have seen.
It's on the bubble, and abuse etc. That along with some other videos show you important times
when you need to deviate a bit from what the ICM trainer is showing you.

Some of those pushes are only good if your opponents are good enough to make
the lay down required to make the situation +EV for both of you. Some of those players
at the level you are at just see their hand and call you without looking at the other stacks
and blind level, etc etc. That makes your push and their call a -EV for both of you.

GL I hope you have an awsome run at it this time, I'll keep reading.

update time!

ive been playing sets of 6x $12 this week as well as working lots at my part-time job. ive put in a few extra hours watching videos as well as reviewing hands. ive been playing pretty good so far! my EV is trending up again and im even running above the line which is unusual for me on this limit lol.

i wanted to share this hero fold i just made which i think was one of the best ive ever made if villain was telling the truth

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, 12 Tournament, 25/50 Blinds (9 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

Button (t1335)
SB (t1715)
BB (t1605)
UTG (t1300)
UTG+1 (t1630)
MP1 (t1440)
MP2 (t1620)
Hero (MP3) (t1420)
CO (t1435)

i have villain tracked over 450 hands and know him to be a decent reg. his range when he flats me (assuming he thinks IM a decent player) is very tight. i was willing to get it in vs the utg fish limp caller but against the reg bet i just didnt think he was stealing the pot here very often.

i folded after time banking i typed "AK sir?" in chat and at exactly the same time he typed "ak".

pretty sick fold imo _cool:

Hero's M: 18.93

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with A, Q
UTG calls t50, 3 folds, Hero bets t200, CO calls t200, 2 folds, BB calls t150, 1 fold

Flop: (t675) A, 2, 5 (3 players)
BB checks, Hero checks, CO bets t380, 1 fold, Hero folds

Total pot: t675

the short term plan is to play a few more 6 tabling sets. then boost it up to 8 next week hopefully to get some more volume in :)

Hey lessthanthree,

I would have put out a cbet and folded to any action. But that's only me, maybe he was holding JJ/QQ f.e.?

Anyways I was wanting to ask you about table selection and mostly do you read too much into it? I've noticed that when you see a list of tables with 1 person sat at each they send to be above average players playing the normal SnG strategy. Do you do anything to avoid these/pay any attention to them?

Good luck on the 11's

hi peche025,

when playing on my new limit i do table select somewhat. if i see a heavy multi-tabler i will just wait 5 minutes until a fresh list of tables load without them playing. also if i notice a few players who i have notes on saying they are decent i will also wait a few minutes. luckily the 12s load pretty quickly on FT :)

thanks!

Interesting thoughts. You're way more disciplined than I am. If I have AQ in my hand and an Axx flop, I'm getting it in as quick as I can on the $22s (which is probably why my ROI is only ~6%...)

Table selection is definitely an issue. I never bothered before, but it must make a difference. Lots of yellow marks on the trny lobby and I'm off to find greener pastures.

Keep it up - like the idea of 6 tabling to begin with. Can't see myself increasing above this without a second monitor but then I'm a bear of very little brain...

Tim

Tim: this hand was VERY opponent specific. i would insta-ship it against almost anyone on my limit too. i just KNEW this guy could only ever flat me here with AK or MAYBE QQ/JJ. he wasnt tricky enough to cold call with AA/KK and he knew his implied odds well enough to fold all other PP. and he would insta-muck AQ against my range. and on the flop i just didnt think he had the guts to try steal the pot from me without AK because if he doesnt have it its a huge part of my range. so yeah very interesting spot which is why i shared it :)

z4tz:

ive had some people express interest but so far havent confirmed any time for it. im still interested so drop me a PM if you want to set something up :)

That is a very interesting hand!!

I would still bet fold the flop because he could have flatted you with QQ or KK
and knowing your a regular and betting out on the A high flop shows you hit
your A, and he may have made the laydown as well but you had the specific read
so nice hand well played.

As for table selection, I love it when there is just 1 regular in a pile of SNGs
because you can easily exploit them. You know their ranges preflop for
set mining, and betting, and you can often call a cbet if you have hit with
showdown value and either push them off the hand on the turn or get
to the river very cheap. Mind you this is against a regular you have seen
often and have reads on, but you seem fine in that department.

But when there is like 3+ regs in every SNG then I have to wait it out
because you often end up on the bubble just you and them, and some
times they adjust like crazy and you end up with alot more work on
your hands then seems worth it.

Anyhow glad to see things turning around for you. You certainly are due.

running good this month so far. sustained a 15% roi on the 12s over my games.

im 8 tabling comfortably now and will do so for another week or so then hopefully move to 10 tabling comfortably for the rest of the month.

been playing very well. the reviewing i did when i had my huge downswing last month and watching new gold videos has really helped my game. im definitely a better player than i was when i was a $6 reg.

im still table selecting a little when i sharkscope a 16 table reg and finding out hes a 20k+ lifetime winner i tend to wait til his games finish loading lol. but most of the 6-8 table regs are horrible at the 12s.

on another note im getting my 8th tattoo tomorrow which im uber excited about and my uni results come out on thursday which im scared about but being optimistic.

thanks peche! hard to put in a lot of volume this month with xmas and working lots but im happy with my play hopefully can keep the run good going for the rest of the month :)

there are new articles that i havent read yet and the new videos are pretty good too. the material definitely increases in quantity and quality when you reach gold but it took me like 3 months to get gold and silver videos are plenty good enough to beat micros.

really nice blog you have here...wil follow it from now on....as for the roi i cant complain about the roi at the 3.40 as it s 28 % over 1200 sngs ....but i hate that whenever i try to move to 6 i get hit by a downsing...and i come back like a rat to the 3.40 , the problem isnt that i think 6 50 are unbeateable far from that but i think a roi more than 7 , 8 % is really hard with 16 tables at once....and if i dont do that then it s more profitable to stay at the 3 40....yet again the main ideea is to climb the limits ....si i m stuck i a place where i really dont know what to do

on the ak hand is bad to check...you should bet fold.... because this way you are giving away lots of pots for when he has pp that didnt connect and he can do this move often enough for you to not profit from a good fold

Edit: you played it good, i didnt see the blind levels...but now i reviewed it and i think his range is much stronger than ak there i saw that move with aa some times... ak or aa i think are the only hands he has if he s good and you played with him... a little so he has to know you are good too

Second edit: he has aces and he is trapping you...if he s good he will resteal with ak here not flat call ;), but this just stands if he s good , if he s regtard i think i go broke with the hand

Third edit: i now think he s an idiot.... the hand just doesnt make sense... i think you should go broke with it....

Fourth edit: you should post the hand in the hand evaluation thread

hey vladd thanks for the interest in my blog :)

it sucks starting a new limit with a downswing.. believe me i know! you should still try to move up because even a 8% ROI on the 6s is the same as a 16% on the 3s. and the rakeback is better. :)

i have 8 tattoos now maybe ill post some pics later :)

i might post that hand in the hand evaluation section later. see what others think. :)

:spade: Comeback baby!!! :spade:

mmmmmmmm sweeeet run.

the last plateau is running into cooler spots on bubbles and short handed where i have run pretty good. im still perplexed as to exactly how the EV line is calculated in SnGs so i must do some research on it again so i can propperly analyse my game using it as a guide.

my ROI this month on the 12s is above 20% and my EV adjusted is still above 10% which is awesome!

struggling with volume this month because of the daily grind at work + xmas duties :) feels good to finish 2009 off with an upswing. hopefully i can keep it up for a few more days.

Hey Less,

Nice blog...I'm a dutch member and starting my sng's again.

Was running the 3,40's on stars with a 33% and the $5 with 29%.
Having a break even period now and stars let me loose all the flips (will come back).

I am also 6 or 8 tabling.

Are you playing turbo's or regs on FT?

EDIT: Sry, allready see they are Turbo's
How do you analyse your game in the last difficult period?
Do you use stats?

Also my experience with regs on the lower limits is that i want to sit with them on 1 table beacuse they are tooo nitty beacuse of playing a lot of tables...
They have to play push / fold al lot sooner because i can steal a lot with ATC hehe...

GL hope to hear from you!
