Mental game of poker

Got this today , will read it in following days and post what I think.
One thing is sure, I am changing my game when bigger downswings happen like this one on stars. Was playing wider than usual so need to work on my mental game obviously to maintain quality game as much as possible.

Stars

Playing about 150+ games a day in 3 sessions. Today I played 4 sessions because I dropped from 12 to 9-10 tables. I will keep 9-10 tables tiled (6+3/4 on 2nd monitor) until I feel comfortable to add 2 and more tables. This means I will play 7 and a half hours every day for xy days until I add more tables.
Card distribution, setups, loosing to weaker pp's and all the things you can imagine I managed to have in these past 5 days.

Since I don't have all the hands at my home (played at Gerovits place and on brothers laptop also) here is just partial graph from HEM1 - running under EV 790$ worth (a bit over 60 buy ins under EV).

Challenge

- Sharkscope off for next 30 days! (just to check students stats!)
- No checking hem graphs for next 30 days! (very difficult!)
- Read mental game of poker and apply concepts from it (do assignments from it)
- Identify and resolve tilt issues (big one)
- Stop worrying about money (this is really big one)
- Daily set up at least 45 minutes to review hands from previous day (bubble, hu, 3 bet pots, bvb etc)
- Continue doing coaching sessions at least 6 hours a week
- Add day off every week to relax out of poker (hang out with girls, have drink with my friends) and work on mental game more

This is all for today. Good luck me and lets do this!

Morning good people!

Starting day hard. Did additional bubble scenario for btn sb and bb using nash and fgs. Took me an hour to do from 10 down to 4bb. Its worth it definitely.
Next days will add more scenarios (have done 5 so far).

I will review some bubble spots now and then at 11am head to gym (mon wed fri 5x5 stronglifts). When I get back I have whole day to play on stars, no sessions today so I will try to play 3-4 sessions (3x 2 hours 1x 90 minutes) + review some more and read before going to bed mental game of poker.

Long day ahead, lets see if I make it all happen.

Update

The key I found yesterday (like always) is not to get into trivial spots. I played 3 sessions 12 tables each and am really used to it now will continue doing so.

Mental game of poker

Read some of it took very important notes. Still on the Foundation chapter, found it very interesting and useful regarding adult learning model and inchworm. Identified things I know, am or not aware of (ALM) and finally inchworm taught me to fix my worst game also.
So far I have been learning new concepts new things new this new that. It is time to go back to basics and fix those leaks there. I know I sound a bit silly but just from yesterdays session and reading mental game of poker I was playing under much less tilt, was much more calm heads up, 4-5 players was more patient and bubble finally got the stars structure and blinds vs ongame.
Overall I think things are going to turn around soon, results wise as I feel now much more confident in my current and future game.
I am also working (warming up) every morning with some tables hand history review or reading mental game of poker. Preparation is the key and somewhere along the line (these past 11 months) I have stopped warming up properly (used to do SNG wiz quiz + check my marked hands and even watch some videos). That will change now, I will make it a new habit so lets extend a challenge more.

Extended challenge

- Morning reserved for studying/preparation/warm up (tables, reading, hh review, fixing leaks)
- Finish mental game of poker, take notes and apply things from it
- Reorganize sessions with students so that I can fit everything in
- Day off poker make it day for lots of sessions with students

The way things look my day goes like this
- Wake up at or before 9am
- Breakfast until 9:30am
- Studying 9:30-10:30 or 11am
- Monday, Wednesday , Friday gym 11 - 12, 12:30
- Lunch 12:30-1pm (sometimes 2pm lunch) and start 1st session 2 hours
- Short brake 3 to 3:30 or 3:45 (if I started grinding after 1pm or had longer cooldown with tables)
- 2nd session 4 to 6pm or more
- Brake for diner
- 7pm to 9pm another session
Sessions at times when I don't have gym, or if I move my grinding schedule 2-3 hours later.
Going for some coffee with friends also moves things around as that can take anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes as you know how it goes :)

So there it is, schedule pretty hectic but it needs to be done by the end of year without any excuses. I want to hold myself responsible for effort I put in and lately I have been grinding and helping students but not helping myself. It is time to work hard on my game again, not for this limit but to prepare to eat monster players next year on stars, to push myself to the top and see what I am made off. If I don't make it I can just blame it on myself. And yeah another thing, now I found a way to be detached from money and it is all about improving working hard finding what my limits are, monetary goals aside.
Hopefully next year I can go to Vegas have some fun and along win some money. (reward myself for all the efforts and positive results)

Off to the gym now, have a good productive day everybody!

By helping students you are actually helping yourself!

Anyway, i know what you mean and i'm implementing similar thing (studying before playing).

I also agree that by helping students u help yourself. It s biggest part of my own study - coach others :)
And studyin before session = best combination, make your brain warm, focus on some spot in next session and all the others go along.

Yes in a way that is true because I keep mind sharp but in another way I am loosing time not doing things I would need to be doing. It is like that because most students are beginners playing 1.10 2.75 euro microgaming just couple playing 5.50 and 11s. It will turn around in 6 months when they reach higher limits their thinking process, knowledge of ICM, post flop and everything else will be great to exchange ideas and everything.

Warm up for the win ! :)

Like I told Goran, yes you do help yourself but only to a certain degree. Your mind will be sharp, you look at some beginner things and check your foundation its all good. What I could be doing instead is making more tables, analyzing more specific hands, writing out showdowns of regs, analyzing overall more and finding edge. Instead you do things that you know by automatic knowledge (stage 4 of ALM). Things will change when they move to higher limits as they will know more and hopefully reach to play mid stakes withing 12 months in program.

Been warming up with making different tables in holdem calculator, reading mental game of poker, reviewing marked hands from day before. I will add more things to the routine, like checking specific filters or looking at specific regs but overall this is making my mind much sharper and ready to crush from get go.

Thanks for the support!

Thank you guys, it was very nice push!

I haven't been checking sharkscope but I was brake even which is great considering I had 1300$ minus (100 buy ins) in first 5-6 days.

New thing I am doing for past two and a half days is playing stacked between 15-20 tables.
On 1st monitor I have 4 columns where they align and as soon as I get to Bubble I move that table to 2nd monitor! Also from bubble to HU I move on that 2nd monitor to another column.
Today I played one session hour 45 minutes + cooldown of 20 tables , it lasted a bit less than 2 and a half hours, I managed to put in 79 games!!! That is fantastic and makes me very happy that I can do this 2 times a day and reach over 150 games easy. It will leave me extra time for review and working on other things.

Since I posted last time I have been doing everything I mentioned I will do and it feels great to have control over things.

Will play at least one more session today but its obvious with 3 sessions stacked 200+ games is ez game the only question is how much roi would decrease with mass multitabling 15-20 tables. I was making all the calculations with 5% roi with 12 tables.

Final thing, I will register Table Ninja and use it to open tables automatically (15s only) since I dont want to think about it when I have lots of decisions to consider in late game.

You should come to Serbia, Gavron and Kurk, me and Gerovit will make 5 max game for us , I will hire hot dealer girl for us and we can all have fun here
If you decide to come, bring extra AC cause its brutal hell hot weather :)

If I move to Stars it will be in a few months, I need to clear a FDB first :(

Heheh I will put a portable AC in my backpack, but maybe we should just play without an AC so the dealer will get hot

Dear Jarred,
I have a mental game problem. People on Stars are owning me 3-4 days in a row. What do you suggest I do , thinking of quitting this game and going on cruise ships to bang German MILFs.
