Doing pretty good, I was at the sng leaderboards last week, got 29th something place there on high orbit, got 30$ there hehe=) My big big ultimate goal for this month will be geting Goldstar by the end of the month on Pokerstars, that means I'm going to have to play ~33 tournaments a day, which will be tough because I still go to school. Ohh I can't believe I'm so close to 1k$ bankroll!

I've met some new people for the past few days who play 7$ STTs aswell, have done some session reviews with them and it's really a lot of fun and helpful =P Been doing pretty good on tables aswell. I'm a bit short on the goal I set for myself, like 40 tournaments short which is a lot but I have 3 free days coming up so hopefully I can make up for it.

I had like 20BI downswing yesterday (~140$), I kept playing good but I didn't manage to turn that day around. This morning I ran really bad aswell, kept geting 2 outered on bubble big stack vs big stack.. When I started a session on night I played and ran good, held up against flush draws, made some good thin value bets and got paid off 
My bankroll increased nicely:) I'm so close to taking shots at 15$ fullrings!

I was just wondering if you'd be willing to help me out with some questions. I'm a beginner, pretty young aswell and I'm really impressed with your blog/results.. I on the other hand managed to get from 60 dolars to 20 dolars in less then a week playing 9man normal speed SnGs

Hi, firstly I would like to congratulate you on your success, very good going and I hope it continues for you. I do quite well myself playing 27 and 45 man SnGs on Stars however I have tried a few games at STT 9 man but seem to have struggle slightly results wise and I really do not understand the reason for it as I am quite successful in the 27s and 45s.
Now it could well be that it's because I have only played around 10-15 of them and admittedly I have been sucked out on quite a few occasions over this very very small sample however I have a question..
Is it that there are more grinder/regs at 9man than compared with the 27s and 45s?
Let's say for example in the 9man we have 2 grinders that's a field percentage of 22.2% and yet you have to finish in the top 33.3% to be ITM. Now let's add ourself into the equation this means that the top players in this STT is 33.3% thus leaving 66.6% of my terminology (Fish'n'chips) dead money.
Now let's say that there are 4 grinders at the 27man, that's a field percentage of 14.8%, but you need to finish in the top 18.5% to be ITM. We add ourselves into the equation and this means that the top players in this is 18.5% thus leaving 81.5% of dead money.
You see where I am leading with this, but is it not fair to say that it is far more easier to be ITM playing in larger fields at the micros $0-$5 due to the small competition of regs as opposed to the STT format?
Obviously you're doing well at STT but could you give me some figures as to how many games you sometimes go without being ITM and also what exactly is your ITM %.

in my opinion 27s and 45s are less reg infensted and are better for $. play 9man though cause i want fast games etc etc.
i can give you my ITM% on 9s . its about 40-45% but i will post the correct number when i log in in my computer.
imo if you do good at 27s and 45s keep playing them.

I haven't really played 27s and 45s so I can't tell you if they have more regs or not, however the 7$ 9man SnGs I play has a lot of donkeys and bad regulars (depends what time you play though).

Yes it's wrong to say 9 man STTs or larger field micros are easier because they both require unique skill and thinking. The larger field tournaments have bigger variance tho. On 9 man STTs you play against same opponents very often so you can get reads on your opponents and use them another day, I'm afraid on 27 or 45 man tournaments you don't meet the same people too often (I could be wrong). Both have their ups and downs, you should play the ones you enjoy more=)

Hi thanks for the blog just started playing poker for money. hope to run as good as you within 3 months but for now playing 1.50 stars and only breaking even to small loss but have a mile of dvds and articles to improve.

I find them quite easy going all the way up to $5 (have not tried to play higher) am grinding a bankroll up from $12 so have been playing $1 45s and $1.50 27s but I have noticed that I had to make some important adjustments.
The adjustments I had to make to play these $1 Mtts are the following:
Early Stage
--------------
1) Try to limp in with suited connectors, 22-99, AXs
Mid-late stage
------------------
1) Be aware which players do not understand stack sizes and bubble stage.
2) Call lighter and Shove tighter except if the blinds are tight then literally (stack sizes permitting) you can go ahead and shove any 2 cards.
When playing the $3 and $5 27s and 45s I can shove a lot wider because I know that a reasonable amount of players understand stack sizes so it's easy to pick on the medium stacks where as in the $1 Mtts they don't seem to have a fold button regardless!

My ITM is ~30% for 27s and just under that for the 45s although my ROI is 20%.
My ITM for the $1 is just under 40% and my ROI is 38.6%.
Would be good to sweat either of you sometime to see how you approach the 9mans as I would really like to play these due to the less amount of time it takes to complete as opposed to the 27s and 45s also like you pointed out you will also become far more familiar with the opposition and have more accurate reads.

I haven't really used any other poker software but HM2.. I suggest you buy it (I'm not 100% sure but I think pokerstrategy has some deal with HM people so you get it cheaper) if you take poker seriously. You should ask some poker software specialists what they suggest, tell them what limits you play and what you want to accomplish with poker. I'm sure they'll give you good answer:)
