I'm almost always right about everything except (a) poker, (b) everything else except maths, (c) sometimes maths too. Actually, that doesn't really leave much does it. Sigh.......

During my break from poker I'm playing the occasional $1.50 HUSnG on stars, which I have to say I really enjoy. I love being able to focus on just one opponent, and, if I'm honest, it's probably because it feels more like playing chess. Anyway, I have just calculated that I get 1/3 of a strategy point for each one I play. This means that I need to play about 7250 this month to retain my platinum status. So far I have played 24 in 6 days winning 58.3% for a profit of $2.64 (you need >54.4% ITM to beat the rake). This is clearly a huge sample, and I'm well on my way to playing 7500 this month, although I haven't checked my calculation properly yet. Well done me!

Or, since my stars BR is about $30, I could play one $30 SnG, win it, and then play a bigger BI SnG, and carry on winning until I have $1K. I'm sure ihufa would approve of this approach. I'm off to read about Kelly betting.

EDIT: And Professor Kelly says that if I give myself a generous win rate (after rake) of 55%, I should be betting about 10% of my BR in every HUSnG. Ofc this assumes that if my BR falls below $15 I could play a HUSnG for less than $1.50, but it does suggest I should take some shots at $3.50 HUSnGs soon. This is such fun.

I don't need to do this any more because, thanks to PS and their bite sized little article, I now know how to play Badugi.

Took the kids to the cinema to see Cars 2 this afternoon. Not very good imo, but the cgi was just so good, particularly the background of London, that it almost looked real, which made me wonder why they didn't just use the real London, or maybe they did. I just couldn't tell. Then this evening, we watched Toast on DVD. Boy has nice mother who can't cook. Mother dies. Father marries dreadful woman who's a fantastic cook. Stepmother and boy compete for father's love by cooking lemon meringue. Father eats too much and dies mowing the lawn. Boy walks out and becomes top chef. Sounds shit, but was actually really good. Recommended.

Eeek! PS aren't doing very well in their choice of coaches atm. Another one for the rubbish tip. At least Boris's graph shows he can't be cheating.

A bit scary how often this happened (not only with PS), but on the other hand I don't see how one can pay >$100/h for someone who can't prove 100% believably that he beats the limits he's coaching

This weekend I watched four movies (!), and played just two HUSnGs as I realized I was a bit drunk and this didn't seem to be helping me with the soulreading. Watched Tron Legacy with the kids yesterday morning (surprisingly entertaining I thought), which condemned me to an afternoon of playing this with number two son, and the The Girl Who Played With Fire in the evening (this was well made, and really similar to the book, but not as good, so I probably won't bother to watch the third film).

Woke up this morning to find London rioting again, and the four places marked on the BBC's riot map were Enfield, where I grew up, Edmonton, where I went to school, Walthamstow, where my parents were born and my grandparents lived and died, and Tottenham, centre of the football universe. Is someone trying to tell me something? Can this be a coincidence? Well can it?!

Speaking of conspiracies, I'm very disconcerted by the Girah/Jungleman thing (You think Jungleman didn't know? Come on!). Mainly because I was reading a 2+2 thread where they pointed out that having Skype groups where lots of players get together and play one player HU are basically unfair and cheating. And when you see it like that, what are we doing when we have a sweat session? We're basically ganging up on some poor unsuspecting mark. This can't be fair. And when TT coaches me and says 'That's a snap call/fold', and I say 'Surely I have to fold/call', and he explains his reasoning, and I do what he says, and he's right, isn't that unethical too? My moral compass is a bit wobbly this morning. Here's an appropriate song for Girah/Jungleman/anyone who's ever sweated or been coached.
