Yes. Each player will have a card indicating which prizepool(s) they are playing for. Every time a player goes all-in they are required to place their card along with their chips.

not so sure I agree with this second one

Are less experienced players at a disadvantage playing against better players?
We don't think so, as it is more difficult for a P3 player to negotiate a huge field of P1 players. With big fields you are less likely to have a high percentage of P3 players on your table, but will benefit from the increased prizepool. Also the best way to improve your game is to play better opponents.

But will the $100 guys be much better anyways? Fishes with more spending money imo :f_cool: :f_cool:

Aha! Thanks for that first one. It never occurred to me to read the rules!

Point two, lol @ 'best way to improve your game is to play better opponents' - I just want their £££, not to improve my game. 95% of them are absolutely hopeless in my experience (says he who has yet to cash there :f_mad: ). Limp/shove from UTG with an 8bb stack and J9s tops my list of favourites, and I've seen plenty of epic nonsense in my visits there. I doubt that a higher buy in is going to make much difference to the standard, although you have to take your hat off to Roberto Romanello for inventing the format and then coming 2nd in the first one ever to run. Clearly rigged. And he's Welsh.

Going back in my Skype history now, checking how often JB said "Very interesting" or "I have a few minor comments" ....
Why didn't anybody tell me a while ago before we started working on the book project? X(

If there was something similar for 'What the Austrians say' and 'What the Austrians mean' it would be much easier to decipher and edit your contributions to the book, although, if I have trouble following you sometimes, I'm sure it's my fault.

Stop giving every thing away, TwiceT. Its important that people think we're being nice to them when really we're just belittling them.

I was a bit disappointed about this. But never mind; you must come to dinner soon.

I thought I'd post this hand, against a tight reg, as I've just been discussing it with a couple of people.

Full Tilt Poker | No Limit Hold'em Cash - $0.50/$1.00 - 6 players
Hand #31955518656 - delivered by Pokeit

BTN: $222.65 (222.7 BBs)
CO: $175.40 (175.4 BBs)
MP: $111.00 (111 BBs)
UTG: $217.35 (217.4 BBs)
Hero: $102.85 (102.9 BBs)
SB: $25.20 (25.2 BBs)

Pre-Flop: ($1.50) Hero is BB with A♠ 9♦
3 players fold, BTN raises $1.00 to $2.00, SB folds, Hero calls $1.00

Flop: 5♣ 9♥ 9♣ ($4.50) (2 players)
Hero bets $3.15, BTN calls $3.15

Turn: T♣ ($10.80) (2 players)
Hero bets $7.55, BTN raises $10.45 to $18.00, Hero calls $10.45

River: A♣ ($46.80) (2 players)
Hero bets $79.70 ALL-IN

Preflop: I could 3bet this, but he's fairly wide on the button, so I call.

Flop: I treat these spots as me having the stronger range, so I donk a lot, as if I'm cbetting.

Turn: I bet to get called by one club hands, and I'm not thrilled to get raised, but I think I have the implied odds to call and try to fill up.

River: I lose to TT (he's probably not raising the turn with AA but no Ac), which is three combos, so the question is how best to extract value. He has 8 combos of Kcxc, and he might have raised a bare Kc as a semi-bluff, or KcKx, QcQx, so I shove to try to get called by them.

I think this is OK. Or can I get more value by betting smaller on the river?

I can't post this in the HE forum, because I'm not Gold.

A raise here could indicate 7c8c or JcQc as well as those you mentioned could it not, or even the case 9sXc and of course 5s more obviously?
I should think he may hero fold a bare 9x and call Kc and Qc but probably not a Jc as well as the more obvious 5s TT and 9T.
I suppose your image and table/villain specific dynamics would make some differencel, however, after the raise on the turn I'd probably ship it on the river as well. :)
I like trying these.

Why not check/jam river? All those hands that want you want to get value from are going to bet anyways right? Plus he'll have some bluffs too?

I was worried about him checking behind with non-nut flushes. But I suppose he folds them to a jam anyway, so yes, that may have been better. I think it's close. I should try to work it out with some maffs, but cba.

I think he can find a fold with Kc if you check/jam more than when you jam.

I played the multiprizepool MTT at DTD last night. The usual turnout on a Thursday is about 100, and last night there were nearly 180 entries, so I'd say it was a success. It didn't seem to make that much difference to the play as far as I could see. Everyone was still horrible. I don't think I've ever played a session before where everyone's hand has been so completely face up to me.

I ran fairly cold at the start, but then won a few pots until we got down the last 20 in my (low roller £25) prizepool. 12 paid. I had an average stack of about 10bb (these things are 90 minutes of 200bb/100bb/50bb, and then basically become a hyperturbo shovefest, although 80% of people have no clue that they can't cold call bets and they can't limp and do all the stuff that fishies like to do). The button, whose raises I had shoved over twice before (first time, snap fold, second time, tank, grumble, grumble, 'Next time I'm calling, grumble', Me - 'Next time I'll have a real hand.' Hehehe) jams and I have AJo. He covers me. It was a snap call for me because I can absolutely guarantee that he'd make a small raise with a monster, and certainly with AQ or AK, hoping to snap off another shove from me, so his range must be full of crappy Aces, broadways that I dominate and, worst case scenario, small pairs. I still took the time to think it through for a bit - I don't think ICM comes into it - and then called. He has A9o, looks very sick, I look very happy, he flops a 9. Bye. bye JB. Again.

I was pretty gutted because that would almost certainly have guaranteed me a final table, and it was the last live buy in that I had left. I'm back to £0 in my live bankroll. However, it was the first evening where I didn't do anything stupid, I kept track of all the stacks, I knew what was in the pot, I made some smart folds and bluffs, and when I mentally reviewed all the hands in the car on the way home, I was happy with every decision I made. Without wishing to sound like a wanker, I think I can finally say that I feel comfortable and can play my A game live, at least in MTTs. Cash may be a different story, but I'll have to wait and see.

I've now finished a first draft of the book minus example hands and should be able to get it proofread, corrected and sent to my co-authors by Monday. Although I say so myself, I think it reads rather well. I'll crack on with editing and selecting the example hands starting next week, and hopefully should have a complete first draft of the book by the end of next month.

I played Penzance this week, first time this year. I played pretty well, was patient at the start and then, as you say, adjusted to the accelerating blinds and got to final six, with five paying.

Your old pal Wally knocks me out by open limping on BTN, then snapping my BTN shove. We both have 10bb. I have ATo and he has KTo. _confused:

He flops a straight. _o:

And I thought to myself, why sit here for 3 hours playing poker. Why don't we all just put £50 on the table and play highest card wins. Would save a bit of time. I might mention it to Mr Romanello next time I see him - it could be the new structure everyone is looking for. _evil:

Lol. He's such a <'))><. Don't go again until I come down on holiday. Then we'll both go and finish first and second again. _biggrin:

Or indeed, second highest card wins (to cater for the injustice vote).

I thought that hyperturbo MTTs with 10bb were already a game of highest card wins. Or is there some subtlety that I'm missing? :f_confused:
