Earlier in the thread you spoke about things u want to change, one was switching from passive to aggressive blind defense.

Passive blind defense isnt inferior to aggressive they both have advantages. If im defending BB vs SB im more inclined to just call preflop because I can make my position work for me. Blinds vs BU/CO im more inclined to 3 bet and take the pot down right there.

If you mix up passive/aggressive blind defense with different hands and not always doing the same depending on the strength of your hands you will do well.

You will only ever know if another line is more profitable vs a certain opponent if u actually try it now and then :f_p:

" I have been doing a lot of soul searching as of lately and one thing that I have noticed is that a lack of desire in my lifestyle. Since I can remember I have been always looking for the easy way out. I really have a desire to learn to be a "good/winning" poker player. "

Thats so myself =)....

Good luck mate =) Keep improving, thats all that matters ;)

well, i'm reading your blog coz u posted something on my thread. Found out we are doing the same strategy SSS on NL25.

The only diff is i only play less than 50 hands a day, and stuck with $100 BR.

Less than 50 hands a day? Maybe you thought 500?

Funny you would make like 15000 per year, which could be easily breakeven

Had a busy weekend, I havn't been able to play at all though I might try to shove in a few hours of 6 tabling if I can. Midterms are coming up and I have to get some studying in which kind of sucks because I would so rather be grinding :f_biggrin:

I am really disapointed in the ammount of volume that I have (or I guess I havn't) put it. Next week I hope I can start on Thursday evening and get in a lot more hands to make up for a missed week. BR is at about 1200.

I have been doing a lot of review hopefully I can find a few spots to play better.

So since I didn't really play at all this week I spent a lot of time reading (some poker and the rest studying for midterms) and I came across some interesting stuff which made me have an epiphany.

New Goals:

  • Also play NL25 FR so as to allow more table selection
  • Start playing any time I am feeling it not just on previous selected days
  • Not be scared of playing against some Regs
  • Find a partner who would like to sweat/talk CG theory on a regular basis
  • Hire the services of a coach

If anyone is intested in sweating just let me know

Well I got in about 2k hands and I am down about 5 stacks, losing some standard spots KK vs AA twice... also losing a 60bb flip with TT vs AQs... also losing one semi deep stack with AK vs K7 to a back doored flush and one Mid stack when I got it in on the flop with KK vs K5s

Hopefully I can get in another 2-4k hands in tonight and the same the next two nights..

got in another 1k after I took a break and relaxed... losing all those stacks didn't tilt me though it just sucks.

after those 1000 or so hands I am up about 2 stacks so that makes the total about -3 stacks for the day hopefully things turn around tommarow I will try to put in a 6-8 hours 6 tabling of SH session in tommarrow just because I feel really in the mood to play as of late.

i know how hard it is to motivate yourself into playing especially when you are experiencing downswing....or even an upswing....i know i feel that way ....for example if i do really well in a day and i don't play as much as i wanted.... i sometimes stop...because i don't want to loose all i ve amassed ... i know that s stupid....but...what can i say ... M J 's words (may he rest in peace) That's Human Nature

yea I used to really do this in the begining of my poker playing thats why I felt like I was on such a big upswing because I would play until I would win like a stack or almost a stack and then usually stop take a break and then come back and play again. If I was down I would continue to play until I was in the green even if it was only like a $0.06 profit LOL. I had some crazy heaters where I never had a losing session for about 9 days straight. and then the down swings _mad:

I guess with more experience and more time put into poker you really start to understand the game for what it really is and not some fictitious low work get rich quick scheem.

Anyways I got in a few hundred hands and stacked of a fish who was deep with Aces and he called a flop 4bet with 2nd pair 2nd kicker and two value bets after that as well just amazing the plays that some people make lol. So I got about 2 stacks from that and I am about to get in a few thousand hands in after I get some food in me. :f_love:

Finished off another session got in about 1200 hands 6 tabling.. ended up like 2 stacks almost and I guess I am back to the same ammount I had before the weekend... Playing break even isnt the worst thing .. I am glad I am getting rakeback :f_cool: with the 3-4k hands I got in I should be getting a few stacks back which is nice.

Got in a small session about 550 hands up like 35BBs which I can't complain about. Hopefully I can continue playing good this week and have a nice stack by the time I get my RB. If everything goes well I may be able to take another shot at NL50 by next week.

Haven't been putting in a lot of volume but have been doing some more studying of theory and got in a sweat session (hope to make this a regular thing)

On a side note played $5.50 1 rebuy + 1 add-on event and took "2nd" but when we got down to the final 3 me and the chip leader had almost all the chips and made a deal which give me a nice $400 boost to my BR.

So I am fully rolled for NL50SH but I think I am going to spend a week or so with improving my game and some spots where I am playing too weak since last time I took a shot the aggression was really something that took time to adjust too.

So another day goes by and I didn't feel like playing today I don't know why :f_mad: only got in about 500 hands thought there were some nice tables. A fish decided to donate his deep stack to me. this guy was playing anytwo like the nuts all in...

Grabbed by Holdem Manager
NL Holdem $0.25(BB) Replayer
SB ($20.59)
BB ($66.02)
Hero ($49.40)
UTG+1 ($50.25)
CO ($25)
BTN ($47.15)

Dealt to Hero Q♥ Q♣

Hero raises to $0.85, fold, fold, fold, SB calls $0.75, BB raises to $1.45, Hero raises to $4.75, fold, BB calls $3.30

FLOP ($10.35) 5♣ 2♠ 9♣
BB bets $0.25, Hero raises to $10.50, BB calls $10.25

TURN ($31.35) 5♣ 2♠ 9♣ 9♥
BB bets $50.77 (AI), Hero calls $34.15 (AI)
RIVER ($99.65) 5♣ 2♠ 9♣ 9♥ 8♦

BB shows K♥ 2♦
Hero wins $96.65

I am really starting to get used to playing 6 tables also I have been improving my game, right now I am trying to stop playing so passive it is costing me alot of money. I feel like I am playing too tight but the players at this limit are so loose and bad that I think it is not such a bad thing though I think this will have to change before I move up a limit.

One other thing, I still am running way above EV should I not be surpriesed if my winnings start to head toward this line even though I havn't changed my style?

He probably thought you are raising with AK/AQ ...
But... if he put you on raise with AK , then he shouldn't be calling with K2...
and AQ shouldn't raise UTG....

What do u mean AQ shouldn't raise UTG this is a SH table :f_ugly:
also he was an idiot playing hands like Q7o .. 3betting vs the tightest player on the table then hitting a 77X flop.. and another spot where he cold called AQs in the SB vs BTN steal and hit his miracle flop of QQX .. he checks and btn checks behind and the turn comes a K and the btn bets and gets it all in after getting 3bet and the other guy shows AKs.. and one time he played 97o calling in MP vs UTG open raise and he hits his miracle... he was going broke with like any pair or atleast playing bet bet bet with it, even peeling flops with the most ludicris hands. he was up about 5-6 stacks in 20 minuets and lost it all in about another 30 minutes or so.
