It is so difficult convincing people about the good people in poker. The image people have is of sweaty con men in cowboy hats.

I think poker should change its name to some thing like Bescrablio (I just made that up BTW). Bescrabliostrategy.com, mmmmmmm!

Hey. I wear an Akubra (Aus version of cowboy hat) and it's bloody hot in Australia.

Been a busy day all in all. Spent 6 hours filling in an application form. Did some volunteering for around 3 hours. Sorted out some birthday stuff for my wife's 40th next month. Spoke to a builder about having some work done and still managed to play 20 games, and run like God!! :f_cool:

I'm feeling really comfortable at the 3.50's. I have learnt loads in the last 2 weeks. The main things I have learnt:

Watch poker vids that are relevant

Not trying to do too much

Take regular breaks (I normally play 2x2 hour sessions approx)

Don't beat myself up if something doesn't get done. Focus on what I am doing and do it well.

I am currently only 4 tabling regular speed SNGs so playing 20 games can take 4 hours or more. I still plan to play regular speed but am adding a 5th table. I've done this today and it feels comfortable. I aim to add one more next week if I can maintain focus with 5 easily.

I just discovered the leaderboards on Sharkscope and found out I'm sitting in 5th for my limit in 2014. LOL :f_cool:
I'm not sure I can sustain this as the other regs are probably playing a far greater volume. Just thought it was good to finally be competing.

I am adjusting to opponents tendencies pretty well but still feel there is so much more to add to my game. I think at this level I can get away with my ability but will have to definitely raise my game if I am to compete at a higher level. Although of course, I did play quite a few 7's last year and held my own, showing a smallish loss of around 14 bi's over a sample of near 700.

I have ran pretty good this week so far so won't get too carried away.

Following your blog with interest!

I'm playing $2.25s at full tilt and will be coming over to $3.50s on stars when i've got the bankroll.

I do a group study/rail session with a few guys on the forums who play similar levels (Ramble I think you've met). Let me know if you're interested and I'll pm you my skype name.

Would defo be interested thank you.

I left a message for Ramble but he didn't get back to me. May have upset him, calling him an old sod!

I do think FT is softer but traffic isn't too good eh? I sometimes have a go on there but rarely now as I need to get in volume on Stars for now.

Send me that PM and I'll take a look. And, thanks for following.

Good luck at the tables mate.

The traffic on FT is a bit softer particularly on the regular speed games. I think the turbos are fairly similar. I was playing only regular speed until a week or two ago when I started to add turbos as well.

The traffic isn't bad at all. It's not like stars where you can load up 10 tables in a minute but it definitely has enough traffic for 4 tabling. I could get up to my 9 regular speed tables in 10-15 minutes most times of the day (not 3-6am GMT though) I don't know how the $5s are.

It's all a smoke screen so I can concentrate on the beautiful game :f_biggrin:

Yeah, trying hard. Been offered some work fixing trucks but I'm not in panic mode just yet.

3-6am is not for me! I do like FT, maybe in the future. There are still enough bad players on Stars, although lots of regs.

Haha - You didn't upset me at all, I'm just old and don't move so fast... ;) I'm glad to have some company in the 'Old Timers Club'...

Actually I started reading your blog and got about 4 pages in before I realized there were about 10 more to go... so I marked it as a favourite to come back to, but haven't been reading much the past few days. I can relate to you on many fronts, in and out of poker...

Looking forward to you joining our sessions and hearing your perspectives on my horrible play - hopefully we can help each other improve.

Good to hear from you mate. We're not that bloody old!

Yeah it's tough going reading someone's full blog. Most of my middle bit is moaning about bad beats and a few near misses. Apart from my big score last year which makes me out to be better than I am it's probably crap.

I've only settled into proper BRM and grinding STTs in the last month so you've probably picked it up at the right point.

I Skype'd Paul last night and railed him for a bit. When do you guys have Skype get togethers?

I'm [Edited by Lazza61 - Please use Community Tool to exchange Skypes] on Skype.

Cool - I'll add you on skype tonight.

Weekends work best for me as far as group sessions go. Usually when my kid is down for a nap - so about 1700 GMT (that's 1300 my time) seemed to work well last weekend. This weekend my Saturday looks busy, but I should be available Sunday for a bit if anyone wants to do a review.

For quick railing or one-on-one chats, I'm usually available after 0100 GMT (2100 my time) for a bit.

Weekends aren't too good for me TBH. Busy this weekend. Helping Dad move which will be fun

Railing and Skype chats sound fine. I try not to do too much distracting stuff while playing any more but always happy to participate after I've played. Not sure how Paul played 8 tables and insta messaged so well last night. Damn kids.

A couple of interesting things happened today: I picked up my first pair of prescription reading glasses. I am amazed at how bad my eye sight was. OMFG I love my specs. I also went back to my old gym for my first session in a while and enjoyed it (kind of). Anyway, Pokers:

Last week saw my first week playing the 3.50's seriously and seemed to go well.

This week however did not go as well. It went funking doubliieeeeeeeee well :f_cool:

I would say it was down to complete run good but this is not true. I am playing well, if I say so myself :megusta:

I have focussed completely on playing when playing although occasionally the mind does wander. My mind game still needs loads of work but suspect this is ongoing for the rest of our lives I'm afraid.

I am still managing to stay on the SS leaderboard which is good and even encounter some of the other guys from there occasionally. I have started to select softer tables too which also helps. Although I did just pick up aces first hand facing a UTG open shove for all my beans. I lost to 88 obv.

So here's the weeks graph for 129 games:

I've ran a bit over EV but I have noticed that my downswings have been shorter than my upswings which is opposite of before. This must be a normal phenomenon as I've seen this pattern many times before with better players than myself. Hopefully now I am improving and can carry on this trend.

Off poker again. I've applied for 3 jobs in 3 days so fingers crossed. One is a careers adviser in prison. Sounds ideal for a criminal who has no clue what he wants do with his life :f_biggrin:

GL Guys
