FX update:
went to meet a mentor today about forex and ofc this blog post is going to be abt forex trading. just so that i can keep in mind his teachings.

like in poker, trading is also about making +EV trades.

concept: (probability of win*average pips won) - (probability of loss*average pips loss) ofc is the basic fundamental concept in today's game of poker. risk management.

concept: price can only move up or move down. either you long or ayou short. every trader employs his/her own analysis to make a simple binary decision. yet majority of traders lose in the game of randomness. 95% losers and 5% winners(this is a typical quoted statistic not by me)

thought: what makes 95% of losers lose consistently and 5% of winners win consistently? i've tried so many strategies religiously and they never seemed to work. why is it that winning strategies can become losing ones in the hands of some others? why is it that the basic/simplest strategy, moving average, can be employed profitably on large hedge funds? yet people still look beyond it thinking that there's a holy grail waiting to be uncovered?

concept: 2 most common reasons why most lose in trading:
greed/over-leveraging
holding to loss/not letting winners run (aka not managing a trade actively)

concept: at every price there are buyers and sellers. at every price point traders have their take profit/stop loss. traders of m1 -> h1 -> d1 ->... , every one is just concern about one thing, the price.

concept: make only trades that are favourable aka +EV. if price is moving up, you buy, if price is going down u sell. one can still win by selling against the rising price movement but it is not going to be favorable and probability of price going against one is higher.

mentor: fx market is a random walk, yet ratio of winning vs losing traders are not even in a ratio close to 50-50.

game: just trade randomly and hope to not busto (ofc have to consider spread/commission)

concept: price action; price vs time; range

tools: -

final: to combine past price actions of different time frames into one mainframe assessing conditons/distortions of different timeframes and make a profitable trade at a manageable/favourable risk.

Flat AKo vs Sqz Deep nl100

Villian plays 20/13/2.8 3.2% 3bet and 4% sqz. flop play is standard. on the turn, i have TP+FD and villian leads again. not sure what is the best play here already. i decided to raise here. the thought process is that his betting range consist more of value e.g. AA/AK/KK and less of bluffs. by raising, i hope to throw him off his AK and AA, and even if he folds his air now, i'm still quite happy since by the river, the only option is to call/check or fold, hardly can we find a raise(to throw him off a split or AA) or a value bet(can we even vbet river if checked to? think its too thin).

next question is the sizing of my raise. i quite like the size of it as i think it has alot of FE yet doesnt seem as bluffy if its smaller(e.g. minR) or a jam. we still can save some 50bb if we get called(i assume we aren't going to shove for value on river and we're usually beat or split). ofc we cant fold if he shoves on the river. what do you think?

edit: i really doubt he can continue with his AK hand since he's never holding a redraw and @ 200bbs deep, my percieved range definitely has KK, some random pp that could hit the board and flushes. and the assigned range is his top end preflop because i think he looks like an ABC tag reg. if this is 100bbs deep, i'm calling all day long

I like calling because by raising u turn ur hand into a bluff and thiis hand is IMO too strong right ow to turn it into a bluff
if we call, then on the R if he is 3-barrel happy then call R as well cause everything he bets for value on T he would ch on the R (as every FR nit right?) so therefore if he bets its really likely his range is polarized
The ting is though, I dont expect him ot be 3-barrel happy and there isnt even many hands he can bluff with so fold R would be better

@manu: u stack nobody when u hit nuts really. percieve him as straight fwd so theres so little chance he's bluffing the river into my nuts. and we hit nuts 17% of the time.

LOL! I was just kidding. Ofc you almost never get paid on that type of board with the nuts. But that's the easiest way the hand could go. It goes into the "you need to run like a pro" category.
