then will discuss with TwiceT how we can plan to visit the common places we want to visit together.
so you can join up whenever you're ready to.
well thats where rakeback gives you a peace of mind.
with your skill set, i doubt you'll have a losing moth at nl50.
with average working hours, you'll probably get at least 2k worth of rakeback 24tabling @ stars. and thats only at nl50 excluding your winnings.
so i think it's possible to progress in poker while travelling though you have to plan really wisely.

Will see how my travel plans go but if nothing new turns out, I'm interested in travelling around asia during may/june-end of august. I'll try to catch you on skype for this.

flying in 20hours time, not too much hype about travelling.
maybe all that thinking and planning made me pretty much accustomed to the idea of travelling.
as the search for a travel buddy goes on, a couple has already registered their interest, namely TheShade, Shevtshenko, Alcatrazzalz and Vonki (and EmanuelC16??? :f_biggrin:b)
nothing really concrete yet, since everything is still months away.
Vonki is basically not to keen with my idea of roaming asia since it's quite laborious, so she's still on her lookout for travel buddies.
anyone with any travelling ideas can speak to her since she's still pretty much open to ideas too.
and yea Vonki we can still meet up somewhere if we happen to be around the same region :f_grin:

TheShade is pretty much on about Asia. except he's not too sure for how long and when because he needs to get his $$$ loaded and he has exams come june.
he says he's definitely coming Asia, at the least Singapore, since he gets free accomodation by me. HAHA just make sure you do the chores! _evil:

Shevtshenko is definitely on about Asia. in his blog, he mentioned that he's going to Thailand come May!
so if everything works out, we'll probably Asia-trot starting from Thailand.
he's also pretty cool about the idea that we couchsurf rather than stay in hotels. why? firstly hotels are costly. expect to be forking out at least 1k/mth for decent living. just in singapore, the cheapest hotel costs $50/day
and thats $1.5k/month. not something poker players cant afford but hey if you have alternatives that aren't too far worse off or even better, why not?
secondly why couchsurfing >>> hotels => interaction with locals. you're going to learn so much about their way of life and you basically have hosts that plays tour guide to you. so awesome!
as i was telling Shev, it'll be so much fun if our host found out that we're degen poker players(maybe also kick us out). expect lots of funky situations to crop up during the trip, things that will never happen to some poker player sitting at home all the time doing his thang.
for all those that don't know about couchsurfing, please use google(my best friend). the one community that i know about is www.couchsurfing.org. i think it's the largest community out there at the moment.

as for Alcatrazzalz, he hasn't further express his interest. probably busy short stacking and minding his own poker business he'll talk to me when he make some $$ i guess? :f_biggrin:

EmanuelC16 is also interested in travelling (whats up with poker players all interested to roam earth? but whatever, because we have the ability to do so unlike most ) but is not exactly at the financial stage to make concrete plans to join up. well you definitely can join up later when you start crushing higher limits! or if you run good now and move up limits like a sicko or or or.....

here's an advert for EmanuelC16, he basically needs a travel stake. not sure if GaRY is willing to stake him but if anyone is willing to stake him for travel, please drop a line, he needs it! :f_biggrin:

and thats all the updates so far. the best is yet to come (so is the worse, exams)
more updates at HK/Macau

tata

not very expensive but has good noise isolation, which is needed in planes!

so instead of having to verbally tell everyone what happened in macau, i'll blog about it instead. cant remember too much, just that i had horrible luck and i ended the session down a few buy ins. will try to pen down as much as i can in the order that it happened.
touched down at macau, headed to hotel and then immediately set out for city of dreams. pretty nice place. definitely has the best waitress

got there and only 1 table was running. immediately spotted the crushing reg(waitlist on all limits), weak regs(equipped hoods/glasses/mp3) the weak players(chatbox w gf in a corner, female players), umegafish (the 40-50 old man with his puff).

thought to myself, wow, easy game, dont need a hud. waited awhile for a new table which was about to start with 3 other players interested.
so sat down with 100bb(10/25hkd).

just share some key hands that have pretty much defined the session. for ease of reference, villian will be given names.

nit bag raise 75hkd in BU, hero in SB dealt AKo 3bet to 225, nit bag snaps.
flop comes 9 :spade:5 :spade:9 . hero cbet 300, nitbag snap shove, hero calls 300 more. nitbag shows KK hero mucks.

Hk fish raise from mp 100hkd, donkey old man calls, nit bag calls, hero in BB dealt 77 ask dealer how much hk fish has left, hk fish, with a disgusted look on his face, begrudgingly replied 1k. and i told the dealer i'll put him all in(all players are short). hk fish tank and folds, donkey old man snap call AI and nit bag folds. donkey old man shows KK and gives me the smirk face. hero mucks quickly but accidentally revealed a 7 in the process with some stun on lookers and a commotion ensued.

hero limps K :heart:Q  EP. rich kid taggro player isoraise to 200hkd hero calls. flop comes 9 :diamond:k :club: 8♥r. hero checks, rich kid bets 300hkd, hero calls.
turn 7 :diamond:. hero check, rich kid bets 900hkd, hero calls.
river j :club: hero checks, rich kid tank checks.
rich kid flips AK, hero mucks

donkey old man raise 200hkd from mp, hero flats KQo on BU.
flop comes A :diamond:T :club:4. donkey old man bets 200hkd hero raise to 600hkd, donkey old man stares at me and calls. i raised here because i think he is pretty weak considering he's the type who prefers to limp big hands than raise it pre. and his bet size just indicates weakness, and my K high beats his whatever gutshot draws and my overcards beat all his other pairs when hit so i decided to raise to see two free cards and hopefully hit
Turn blank donkey old man snap check, i check, river blank, donkey old man insta check again i tank check.
donkey old man flips JJ, hero insta muck. donkey old man taunts " if u shove the turn i would have folded" yea nice lovin there fuckface.

4limp hero in BB checks with 49o. flop Q :spade:4 :diamond:9 :club:
hero leads 100hkd into 135hkd two calls.
Turn Q. hero sulks and check and table goes check check.
river 8, villian leads, another call, hero folds.

HKfish limp, 2 others limp, i isoraise 200hkd in LP with J8s. HKfish insta limp raise 500hkd and give me a smug look. i flatted uncomfortably since this fish is super passive and am prepared to fold if i whiffed. flop comes Q75r. HKFish bets 900, i fold. then HKfish looked pleased and started chatting in cantonese again. cant help but feel he's taking revenge on my loose isoraise, but dont want to get leveled into spazzing.

hero limps J8s. 4 callers. flop comes A :spade:J :diamond:8 :diamond:. hero leads 125hkd into 155hkd, semi decent reg calls, fishy indian raise 550, hero shoves all in 1.8k more, semi decent reg tank fold, fishy indian calls. fishy indian flips AK, i chuckled and i showed my two pair.
turn comes 9
river comes 9.
pot goes to indian fish. decent reg says he had A9. fml.

hero stands, but was informed that still have 500hkd. so hero sat down for 1 last orbit without rebuying and left without any further action

might left out some hands but these are all that i can remember. so basically hands that went to SD lost, and hands that i won are from non showdown pots with the biggest only about 800+hkd. felt i had an edge especially the longer the game went on, although i wasn't always making the most +EV moves, i felt most of my plays were +EV if not at least 0 EV. complains were that there were too many short stacks limping and making family pots, and its irritating to constantly have to manually rebuy. wanted to play else where, went to a few places like wynn, venetian and lisboa, lots of action going on but just wasnt in the condition to play my best.
overall, a decent experience, will definitely be back for more.

I disagree with some of your plays

1) KQs -> 100% raising here, unless shortstackers are playing like online ratholers, but I doubt it. So playable and I'm not afraid of domination at all from EP vs live donkeys. No need to balance limping range whatsoever

2) KQo on ATX -> Your image is shit already and people are not going to believe your raise that often. I would definitely prefer a float, you can rep AX way better esp when you have position. I think it is highly possible in this exact hand he would c/c Turn but you always have the option of bluffing the river again (esp since your line is more credible)

3) J8s flatting the limp/reraise vs AA/KK -> Equity is 19% only, you need to be about 200bb deep to flat profitably IMO, esp since your bet sizes are a lot larger in live games. Your direct pot odds are

300/(85+500+200)=38.2% which is too high. Added to the fact that you can only see 3 cards and play fit or fold, you can only probably realise about 12%+ of your equity. Even with JTs, it's super tough with our 21% (and definitely requires 200BB+) but we definitely flop straight draws way more often. I'm not going to count gutshots because it's too expensive to float esp when opponent's range is face-up as AA/KK and we have 0 fold equity by floating

JTs: KQX/89X/Q9X/XsXsXx/JTX
J8s: T9X/XsXsXx/J8X

I'm not too sure how to count how often each board will hit but I assume JTs allows us to continue twice as often.

Anyway I think even with 200bb stack depth, it isn't enough. Pot is already 40bb on the flop and if he bets half pot (best case scenario) on flop, we get 25% pot odds to hit 16-18% of the time (not too unreasonable). On the turn, pot is 80bb and we definitely cannot try to draw again.

Our equity with two pair is also only a 70%+ favourite so I wouldn't love it as much as a set.

Last point of contention
Is limping or isoraising better? I'm not sure, I think J8s sits on the fence for me. I'll probably limp J6s and J7s, raise Q8s.
-Fit/fold tendencies - raise is better
-l/rR or shortstack shoving in blind - limp is better

@mbml:
1) i tried to raise KQs but because i forgot to announce my raise, so they just considered my 100chip to be a call.

2) well yes flat should be a better option since i also reckon that he's going to shut down alot and play pretty passive.
but at that point of time, i was just thinking this guy is weak and my raise should put him off alot of the times. i didnt want to think to long as well because i wanted to go with the i'm "strong" story.

3) i called because i felt that he could be trying to take "revenge" over the previous hand where i tried to stack him, so i didnt put him on KK+ exclusively and plan to stack off if i flop well(ok not too sure if this is best play but that was what i planned at that point of time) and folding just seem too weak. anyway mathematically it should be 300/(85+500+500)= 27% (you have to add your own bet as well right?) e.g. $1 to win $1 is 1/(1+1) = 50%.

anyhow thanks for taking time to point these things out! and hope you run better! :f_grin:
