Concerning your plans: Please wait until you have a huge sample size on NL400. I've seen a lot of people thinking they can make a living from playing poker. But it's more difficult than you might think it is. And of course: please finish your education!

i think its worth a try if you came this far already. What if Ronaldinho was concerned about getting some officejob, instead of playing football?
If you have talent (you must have if you came this far) i think you should def. try to get better and be a pro someday.

playing NL400 for a living... is that enough? you are sure you don't need to be playing a slightly higher limit than that..?
Well, right now I'm having a good run and my hourly winrate is around 150$ (6.8BB/100). Suppose that my winrate/100 at NL400 is actually somewhere near 2BB. That means something near 42$. Even if that's too optimistic -figures so far say different though, my actual winrate overall is a lot higher than 2, but let's assume that competition on NL400 is tougher so it has to be adjusted downwards-, and it's actually somewhere near 25$, that's still more than enough to be higher than any average starterspay. That I'll see at the end of this schoolyear.
As I said, I'm fairly optimistic. I consider myself a good but not great player already. And seriously, I don't know what some of these players are doing on this limit. They either have very bad bankrollmanagement, have run insanely lucky in their pokercareers, or have some rich parents who provide for their expensive online hobby. Because there's no way they made it to NL400 based on skill.

Good to hear you're doing so well. Hope u can achieve your dreams in the future whether it's playing poker for living or just gonna work and play poker afterwards... Just stick to BRM yourself and nothing can go wrong 
Players are that bad at NL400 too? When I was playing NL5 and I saw stupid players I thought it was because it's the lowest limit, at NL25 I thought because it was the lowest limit with a bad beat jackpot and now at NL50, I have the same thoughts as you...but I really wasn't thinking that there are such players at NL400 as well... Good to hear though, please don't take all their money yet, I want some too some day ♦

I can't believe I'm typing this...but after another 5 buyin loss today I have to move down to NL100 again.
Ran into quads with my flush. Preflop allin with KK against AA. AK all in on the turn with a K778 board and opponent shows K8. KK overpair all in on the turn getting rivered with a 5-outer. Contibets getting called all the *** time.
Seriously, is this still normal? I've lost more than 15 buyins since the beginning of december. Blah.
I think its ok. I had -20 buy-in streaks couple of times (even though SSS are supposed to be way less swingy). So I am sure you will move up...
Jeez, that's rough ... I hope you manage to turn things around soon.
Though a break might be best, you might spend to much time trying to recover your losses now.

Already took a break after the first part of my downswing when I was down 10BI (+ the 4 BI loss at NL400). I can't blame it all on variance, because probably about 5 of them were due to bad play.
Since that break I felt like I was playing very good again, not perfect but still more than good enough to beat the game. And then this happens. Maybe I'm still having some postflop leaks (probably), but the ones I have now I had during my winning streak too, so I don't think that's the major problem. I ran at NL200 with 35k hands at 4.5PTBB before I moved up.
And I'm not playing to make up for my losses, don't worry, never did that Just kept playing like I normally would, but...this is becoming almost too much for me. My bankroll is at almost a third of what it was at it's highest level. Ffs.
That's pretty ugly , i guess it teaches us all a lesson in humility , no matter how good you might be doing , the fall can be pretty hard on poker.
Do you give the necessary importance to table selection ? Hunting the fishes and leaving when there is only good players?
Are there any tools to spot that ? I know the German site got some fish hunter thingy, but my German ain't good enough to use it.
I didn't untill this weekend when I started using SpadeEye. But I usually left tables when I thought there were only good players left, so...Anyway, I slept over it for a night and I'm certain that I will overcome this, if things don't go too crazy...If I can make a 10 BI profit again on NL100 I can move up comfortably again. Also it might be a good opportunity to regain my confidence, not in my play but in the fact that making EV+ plays is always best, which I might have lost a little.

Sad to hear from a fellow Belgian/Leuvenaar. However, I'm pretty sure you'll get you're act together, remain a winning player and re-gain your winnings. Might actually see you at 100NL tables then after Xmas exams.
