Since I got back into poker again recently, I decided why not also get back into forums and blogging? It's the best way to keep up motivation and track your progress if you ask me... ♦ I started over with poker and went for SH this time around, its simply more fun and you learn tons more.
I dare say i conquered my first limit nicely, hehe

I am somewhere inbetween 10 and 25 atm, ran quite shitty on 10 but I am rolled for 25 and am playing some sessions now and then, feels pretty good so far actually. Bit more aggressive games and I never really liked zoom before but aggression is just aggression, most people use it wrong anyway, so I'm not afraid anymore. I do miss battling fish though, so I'm considering playig some regular tables aswell. Will give it a try sometime soon and see what happens.
Poker feels as exciting as ever and it's still beatable as it seems!

It's funny how I resurrect a 1 year old thread out of curiosity, which leads to the uprising of Vonki !!
So. First of all, yesterday was the first podcast! I was actually quite nervous, but I think it worked out pretty great, and was great fun! We were also fortunate enough to get a guest visit by Pleno1! For those of you who missed the podcast, no need to worry. It was recorded, and will be uplodad early next week! For the next one hopefully my webcam will also be working, but yikes, that makes me even more nervous! 
If anyone watched it, please leave some feedback, either here or in the actual feedback thread in the General Discussion area!
Since the topic was Goals & dreams in poker, I think it's only fitting that I get to it and prove that I am more organized nowadays! A.k.a set some goals for December! Stay tuned for that

December goals
A new month has started. The last month of the year even! So let's take a look at whats up in December. I plan to:
- focus on increasing my volume -> this in return will also lead to:
- improving mental strenght
- getting used to variance
- improve my workethic
So it's quite simple really. My main goal... 80k hands this month! That is, mixing sessions of zoom and normal tables, since I'm trying to figure out what suits me best and what I like the most. I'd also like to continue reading some of my selfimprovement books. After I'm done with my current one, I thought i'd go into one about confidence. It's something that never really came naturally to me I guess. And it's one of the things that perhaps makes me suffer the most when I go on a downswing. The inevitable drop in confidence that it brings. So why not see if I can pick up on some ideas of how to become more confident? 
There's also a little secret in the making... hopefully it will take off during December, so stay tuned!

[ ] Complete "Rich dad poor dad" Self improvement bok (2/3 done)
[ ] Start reading "Brian Tracy - The power of self confidence"

Oh and the last one. Buying a new laptop. I need to do it asap, do we have anyone in here whos' really good with that stuff? What do I need to look for in a laptop that I need MAINLY for playing poker. (HEM 2, large database, playing >2 sites at once). Also want to be able to connect 2 screens to it. I'm looking for something in the medium pricerange for now(€500-600). Any tips and ideas are welcome!
Best fire up a session now if I wanna hit those 80k ♦ If I play on 28 days on avg (which isnt even likely to happen in Dec) I need about 2.900 DAILY! Holy cow.

Nice goals. I like to look for a laptop that will last more than just 1 year and won't become obsolete as quickly, I also want one that won't break. This means high performance and a fair lack of 'my laptop broke instantly' reviews. (and not a 150 euro price-tag unfortunately I also go for 500-700euro range) I can share my method for looking at laptops that I developed last time I got a new one:
1) Spend lots of time googling etc looking at specifications, If the site doesn't show all specifications I assume they have taken a short-cut somewhere so its immediately off my list. High processor speed (with as many cores as possible I suppose) and RAM are the first places to look but I also scan the videocard memory for example. I look at some customer reviews during this step.
2) I paste the laptop name into google along with the component names looking for benchmark tests looking for the components and/or laptop with the best performance for the money I would like to spend. I used this site a lot, here is an example of a review: Link Text... Even if you don't play videogames I think looking at the fps (frames per second) results in different graphics settings should be a good indicator of how good one laptop or component is vs another.
3) I simply pick the laptop with the best performance for the money and crucially, I also look to NOT get a hot laptop. This was one of the useful features of notebookchecks reviews.

Personally, I target hours to put in a specific month rather than hands simply because my hands/hr changes so much when I either 2 or 3 table zoom depending on mindset.

ty! I agree that counting your hours is also a good way to measure your playing. However I chose to count hands for a few simple reasons: 1) when I mix currencys and/or stakes/pokersites in one session, HEM will count my actual playing time incorrectly and it would be too much of a hassle counting manually. 2) I am in the end aiming for 100k hands+ per month, so I don't rly mind counting my progress in hands as opposed to hours. 3) In the end, we gain experience from hands played rather than hours spent, assuming that we dont just mindlessly play 24 tables and click buttons. I'm trying to combine high volume with making good decisions.
But its up to everyone to find what way suits them best. I'm always trying to be real with myself and focus my time on improving when I'm playing and not just mindlessly grind to hit x hands in a day.
