Here's my dilemma:

I've analyzed again what I want to do to boost my bankroll as fast as possible. I thought, i profited well with MTTs so I think I ought to just stick to them. but the problems are:

• I live in the Philippines. Before Black Friday, i'm fine playing with 7AM Philippine time (0:00 GMT) to 2PM (6:00GMT). I was having a decent amount of traffic in the MTT SnGos I play and the scheduled MTTs have decent Guarantees.
• After Black Friday, traffic went low on those times, and I can't get the volume anymore to profitably play the MTT SnGos, plus guarantees have significantly decreased. Sigh
• I analyzed and I thought that the best times for me to play is 12midnight our time until 8am (17:00GMT to 0:00GMT) because those are when the traffic is very high, I could have a very good volume SnGos, and play juicy guaranteed tourneys including the daily $11 Big.
• Losing in bad beats in SnGos is very tilting for me. I thought, downswings are much higher in Sit&Gos because winning them would only give you 3 to 4 buy-ins. On the other hand, i'm used getting beat on MTTs, because i know a win or ship is just around the corner worth 25 buy-ins or more.

So my real dilemma is, should I sacrifice my regular sleeping time for a while to potentially boost my bankroll playing on such a hazardous time frame for me?

I really think maintaining good health is very important. I've been going to the gym now to have a more balance lifestyle....

comments or advises please.

pretty satisfied with my results.

at the start, my concentration was a bit off. midway, i was able to make very good decisions and even some hero calls.

one interesting thing that happened today >>> we are heads-up in the $4.40 180 man. i'm chip lead by a not very big gap then this guy asked if i would like to chop. i thought it was not possible so just to answer my curiousity, i agreed. we contacted support, and remaining prize pool got chopped 50/50. i was in position to ship the tourney because i know i'm better than the other player but oh wells, it's good to have some guaranteed chop sometimes.

Some people have problems when working during night and sleeping during the day. If you are one of them don't do that.

As I see you play micros so this is deffinitely not worth it.

i have been earning more than the average employee here in the Philippines, so i think it's worth it.......

time played: 12AM to 7:30AM Philippine time

whew! so i'll gonna experiment with this playing time. but of course, i have to allot several times for rest on times when i don't play.

so how did i go? i thought i played very well. but i think my concentration level was only 70%. out of 15 $4.50 180 man, i cashed in only once and no final tables. thus, i ended the day with a loss. but i think it's just variance because i know i played well.

i also played the Sunday Storm. with it's huge prize pool, sadly, my last hand wasn't lucky enough for me as i dominated the opponent preflop but the flop was just so kind to him. and the same happened with the daily $11 Big.

i think, one reason why my concentration was a bit off was because i played way too many tables. i played almost 28 tables at a time. but i think i could still maintain good concentration playing around 25.

i'm waiting for BSS School to start! woohoo!

It may take your body a while to adjust to the new sleeping pattern so concentration will inevitably be a bit lower.

Have you considered spreading your roll across 2/3 sites? If you find playing midnight-8am difficult this could be another option... And if you have a few more sites to play on you should be able to find enough games.

Also competition is going to be tougher/weaker depending on what time of day so I think after a decent volume you'll have to see if this has much of an impact on your winrate and possibly re-evaluate then.

i made a deep run at the daily big!!!!! WOOOHOOO!! Sadly, i busted 17th, very near the final table. Still, i was very proud of my overall play today and finished the day with one of my juiciest profits ever.

Aside from the deep run, i made 2 final tables in the $4.40 180 man, a 1st place and a 3rd place. what a nice day. what i'm really proud of was that my mindset was very stable and i was able to maintain my concentration all-throughout.

My last hand of the day: This big stack was very aggressive, playing loose, had been 3 betting a lot, and ALWAYS calls 3-bets after his raise. so i thought the 4th strongest hand is good enough here. sadly, he had the 3rd strongest hand. woootttttt!!!!!!

i'm really frustrated, sad......

my older sister went to Australia, she's a registered nurse. she's still studying there and after that hopefully get a job there. and so for the mean time, she has several expenses there and my parents had already borrowed a large sum of money to finance her stay, expenses, and studies there.

right now, she already have little money left and so we need to send her money there. my parents asked me if i could lend her money for a while and i agreed to send 40,000 pesos (nearly $1,000 USD). that kind of money is already a big amount for a 21 year old like me here in the Philippines.

this morning, my mom asked me if it's really ok for me to send that money and she said i was just probably just forced to send it.

i said it's ok. Sister could just pay me back when she gets work and earns money there.

then she asked if how much savings do i really have? 400,000? i told her i have 85,000 pesos in my bank account (nearly 2,000 USD).

she said "lang?" ("only?"). i said, you just call that "only?", i feel insulted. not all 21 year olds can earn that much.

then she said, my friend's son works at ODesk (an online job thingy) and earns 40,000 pesos a month (1,000 USD) and he already saved a lot.

i didn't say anything back anymore. i feel really depressed. she thinks what i'm doing is just a game. she doesn't see how much effort, hardwork, focus, emotional control i put into it!!!!!! and she compares me to some insane guy. the heck, most 21 year olds at our country couldn't even earn money!!!!!!!! average wage here is 10,000 pesos!!!!

i was about to tell her i earned 18,000 pesos yesterday but what the heck, never mind. i don't want to start a useless argument wherein the parent always want to win because of the fact that she is the parent!!!!!!

i'm putting so much effort into poker and succeeding and earning from it regularly is no easy task!!!!! she doesn't get that yet!!!!! the hell, i have saved and earned much more money than my older sister who is now 25 years old!!!!!!!!!

she said i've already spent around 8 months in poker and she expects me to be a millionaire?? what the fuck!!!!!!

everything is a gradual process mom!!!! i've started with 5,000 pesos and you expect me to turn that into a million pesos in 8 months!!!!!! please, open your mind. research on poker and don't be secluded with your old-school mind.

its kinda useless to discuss w/ them. but u should talk about your businness someday. in the beginning of your pokercareer its hard to show some profit. i had problems w/ my parents either

they have too much pinoypride and once they watched the wsop on tv they were very impressed and they support me now. but they alway worry. this is ok but they shouldnt compare you w/ her friend's son. i mean he will always get paid off 40k pesos but in the pokerworld its an up and down. poker is a high variance game and you shouldnt think about it.

you know who you are!!!! dont be sad and frustrated...just see it as a challenge. youll improve as a player faster and keep the hard work!! you can do it!

and about the family issue.. you are a good son.. they should thank you for giving some money to your sister.

Just listen to your heart, mate. If you know you want to play poker - just do it. You can earn much money in the job you don't like, do many other activities you don't like - and what's the point of that? You would be rich, looking happy to other people, but you wouldn't be happy inside without doing what you really want and need. Of course it's much more easier to say than to do, but.. set your goals and dreams, and just fkin go for it Life is short, use it in your favour!

When I started my last time around I was so excited to be making small profits that I told people about it. They thought I was gambling... I lost an entire circle of friends cause they thought I was wasting my time instead of doing school stuff etc.

After when I sometimes made more in a day then they can make in 2 weeks... I just felt sorry for them.

Now being back on the micros I learned my lesson and don't talk to people about it, unless they are close friends or others who also play. They just don't get it... that you can put like 6 month++ in with earning minimal.. till you break it go up in stakes and then exponentially increase profits... then they call you lucky and are jealous lol

It's natural for a mother to think that poker is gambling. I am pretty sure that 90% of this forum members if they tell their mothers that they play poker they would call them degen and not underrstand them. It's part of playing poker for a living and you will have to deal with that A LOT MORE in the future. It's natural for people to think it's just gambling, I will say it again.
