Gap the Mind: A Modern Video Series for a Modern Poker Game

PokerStrategy.com coach Siete777 returns with a new poker training video series, entitled 'Gap the Mind'. In this 8-part series, starting on January 16, Siete777 and fellow coach Cornholio will be showing you how to beat 2013's action-packed No-Limit Hold'em games.

The new series from Siete777 and Cornholio will introduce modern No-Limit Hold'em concepts to combat the advanced and aggressive games found online today.

"Yesterday, winning was standard; today, you have to be smart; tomorrow, winning will be an art," Siete777 says.

The series will begin on on Wednesday, January 16.

Siete777 has been a professional poker player and PokerStrategy.com coach for several years. He plays NL400 - NL2000 and currently boasts Supernova Elite status on PokerStars.

He is also the man behind some of our most successful video series, such as Gold video series 'Mind the Gap', in which he explored image building, adaptation, 3-bet bluffs and the non-4-bet-theory.

Cornholio started playing poker at the end of 2005 and is mostly known as a Fixed-Limit specialist. He has been working for PokerStrategy.com since 2007 and has produced over 100 videos.

The series will cover four of the fundamental aspects needed in your modern No-Limit Hold'em game with a combination of theory and practice/evaluation videos for each.

A total of eight videos have one goal: evolving your game to keep up with (and then crush!) the competition.

We asked Siete777 to tell you all what you can expect from each topic. In the man's own words:

Pre-flop 3-betting strategies: "In this part of the series, we'll have a deep look into 3-betting before the flop. Years ago, it was not a big deal if you only 3-bet around 7% - many winning players still do. We will show you firstly why you should 3-bet more and secondly which hands should fill your 3-bet bluffing range."

Pre-flop cold-calling strategies: "How often do you cold-call a pre-flop 3-bet? When you do, what hands are you doing it with? Wait wait wait! Don't answer! Let me guess... AQ? 99? Cold-calling 3-bets isn't a problem; having a transparent range is. We'll show you how to mix things up a bit."

Turning made hands into bluffs: "Depending on the situation and the ranges involved, it can be both theoretically necessary and immediately +EV to turn a made hand into a bluff. We'll tell you what you need to know about spotting and taking advantage of these situations."

Playing the river out of position: "'A bet makes sense if better hands fold and worse hands call' - true dat! But sometimes, it can actually be good when worse hands fold! In decision-making processes on the river, there are some little-considered factors that can have a big influence on coming to the right decision. To find out how you'll have to watch Gap the Mind."
