Community Roundup feedback thread
Poker Blog of the Week
We travel this week into the Sit & Go world of one of our recently crowned Platinum members.
Community member atoks moved from playing short-handed Cash Tables to concentrate on Sng's earlier this year and is goes into great detail explaining his hands and thoughts.
A nice blog to read for all aspiring Sng players. Good luck atoks and keep up the good work.
Sample Hand of the Week
The importance of knowing the regular players hand ranges, thats the topic this week.
All courtesy of a sample hand from PokerStrategy Coach, Diamond (but aiming for Black next year) status member and all around nice guy Mr twicet:
$0/$4 No-Limit Hold'em (5 handed)
Known players:
MP2 = ($381.90)
MP3(Hero) = ($400.00)
CO = ($418.00)
BU = ($1893.70)
Preflop: Hero is MP3 with J

MP2 folds, Hero raises to $12.00, 2 folds, BB calls $8.00.
Flop: ($24) J

BB checks, Hero bets $18.00, BB calls $18.00.
Turn: ($60) 2
BB checks, Hero bets $40.00, BB calls $40.00.
River: ($140) K
BB checks, Hero bets $92.00, BB raises to $927.80(All-In), Hero calls $238.00(All-In).
Final Pot: $1397.8.
twicet explains his thinking on this hand:
- He is one of the better nl400sh regs on stars;
- We play aggressively vs each other in general, also some flop c/r going on;
-
He didn't 3bet in bb, so he doesnt have AQ+, JJ+, and his airballs
like J3s etc. his range is mostly good broadways (suited) and pairs; - His c/c range on the flop is most likely 77-TT, TJ-AJ;
- I expect him to c/r sets 85% due to his aggr. image. and he knows I know he doesn't rep too much on such a dry flop;
- Turn blanks and he calls again. Seems like Jx a lot, or 99&TT;
-
River hits the K, theoretically a barrel card but I doubt I would
often 2nd barrel AK, KQ on such a blank turn ... whatever, I have to
vbet the river thinly vs Jx and 99, TT that doesn't believe me. These
thin vbets btw is where the winrate is coming from imo. -
So I go ahead and vbet and he quite fast shoves all in. I took my
timebank and rethought the hand a bit. He could have slowplayed a
flopped set - but very rarely I would say given our aggressive images
on the flop. KJ is the only hand I'm, really afraid of, however, I know he
is a good regular and he is definately capable of turning a made hand into a
bluff, recognizing that im vbetting thinly very often and that I can't
easily call a shove. So I put him on TJ, TT, 99 and sometimes KJ when
he shoves the river. Also, I'm not sure if he would shove or raise a
value hand, because a shove is a very big raise here.
