Interview with mbml

mbmlWe also asked him some questions and you can read the interview below.

AdminPokerStrategy.com: Hello, Galvin. It would be great if you could introduce yourself briefly to our members.

mbml: Hi, I'm Galvin Bay from Singapore. I'm 21 this year and I'm currently studying Business in Nanyang Technological University.

AdminPokerStrategy.com: Since when has poker been a part of your life and what does it mean to you?

mbml: Well I used to play a lot of Warcraft III in the past and when the game started to die out, I was looking for a new hobby. My friend klonoa recommended me to pokerstrategy.com for its free $50 starting capital and here I am now. Right now poker is making me a lot of money so I intend to play full-time when I graduate, maybe look for other opportunities to diversify while I'm pursuing this path.

AdminPokerStrategy.com: Could you please tell us a bit more about your poker career to date?

mbml: In Dec 21 2008 I made the resolution to make $10k in one year and start earning big bucks after that, so I started out with NL 10 SSS and went up to NL 100. Then I ran super hot, played NL 100 BSS and came crashing down because my fundamentals were very weak. I started again at NL 25 at Pokerstars in July '09, played some iPoker in November '09 and hit the 10k mark in December '09. After that I pretty much stuck to Pokerstars all the way until September '10 when I decided to move to Rush Poker and play fewer tables so that my winrate can increase.

AdminPokerStrategy.com: What can the PokerStrategists expect from your videos? What limits will they see?

mbml: Personally I think the current poker video market is flooded with sweat videos. I feel that the fundamentals of many players are quite weak so I have decided to fill this gap with theory videos. So far I have already produced 3 theory videos and I'm working on post-flop videos at the moment.

I'm also going to produce some Rush Poker videos. Because Rush Poker videos are capped at NL 400, many video producers are quite reluctant to share info about this game because they are essentially making their own game tougher. I will probably make videos ranging from NL 50-200 because these are limits I can comfortably beat.

AdminPokerStrategy.com: Any final piece of advice for the members of PokerStrategy.com?

mbml: Move up only when you're comfortable. There is no hurry if you are not good enough. Also continuously work on your game by calculating equities and ranges and review hands with tough opponents.
