The more players in the hand the simpler poker gets

Multiway poker does not have to be as complex as a lot of people assume, in fact in case be easier.

A lot of players assume that the more players in the hand, the more complex poker becomes. That is certainly true from the solver's perspective and the near infinite possibilities in the hand.

Practically speaking, however, poker gets easier and more straightforward with more players.

Your value hands need to be much stronger with every extra player in the pot.

Your bluffs and calls need to have improvability towards the Nuts or near Nuts. It's often better to call a bet with Ace high and a backdoor flush draw than it is to call with 2nd pair, for example.

How to simplify your multiway strategy

You will always have a betting range multiway, the biggest adjustments are what you do when facing a bet.

With family pots, you need to have or be drawing to a hand that can beat multiple value hands.

As a general heuristic, for every player added to the pot, you can safely just slice off more hands from the bottom of your range.

It's a much easier way to play; you play your hands more honestly and let your opponents make the mistakes.
