It was the story that gripped the poker world in 2019. Mike Postle was alleged to have cheated in a series of live streamed poker games at the Stones Gambling Hall and the poker community unearthed hundreds of hours of evidence to agrue how his incredible winrate was not skill, nor luck.

It was such a big story that it made mainstream media news broadcasts and led to a multi million dollar court case against Postle, Justin Kuraitis and the Stones Gambling Hall. A case which was thrown out by Judge William Shubb in California yesterday.

The case against Postle was thrown out because the claims against him were “not cognizable under California law because California public policy bars judicial intervention in gambling disputes, in part because the asserted damages are inherently speculative”, according to court documents.

Room to appeal the decision

The news of the decision was first revealed by Veronica Brill, the whistle-blower in this story who first alerted the poker community to Postle's seemingly impossible winrate and her suspicion he was getting some sort of outside assistance on the live streams:

Postle was believed to have won around $250,000 in the live streamed games and over 80 plaintiffs have alleged that he was able to get real time information about his opponent's cards using the RFID chips in those cards. In the hundreds of hours of footage from the games he is seen exhibiting unusual behaviour including staring down at his crotch during hands (where his phone was believed to be) and wearing a hat which appears to be stuffed with something. His winrate in those games was larger than the infamous 'SuperUser' account from the UltimateBet cheating scandal, which had access to hole card information.

The door is open for the plaintiffs to appeal the decision, Mac VerStanding, the attorney for the plaintiffs, indicated to PokerNews that they would be continuing their action against Stones and Postle in some capacity.

Postle, who has remained silent throughout bar one misjudged appearance on Mike Matusow's podcast, has pledged to air his side of the story with Joe Ingram

Will Postle speak out now he has been cleared in this case? Let us know in the comments:
