iPoker launch built-in HUD
iPoker are the latest operator to launch an in-built Heads-Up Display (HUD) available to all players.
This follows the lead of Winamax, RunItOnce and GGPoker who all have their own version of HUDs.
The new HUD is already available at some, but not all, the skins on the iPoker network. It is available for cash games and MTTs, but not SNGs or Twister tournaments.
This does not mean that third party HUDs like the ones on offer at PokerTracker are banned on the network, simply that all players have access to some basic playing tendencies of their table mates. These stats are colour coded between green to red to give a broad overview of how a player is performing.
The HUD only displays information on the current playing session and does not carry over information from previous sessions or tournaments.
Track looseness, aggression & rungood
Only three stats are tracked using the HUD, which give a broad idea for how an opponent is playing in that session.
Flops Seen is the first statistic and the values range from tight and fearless. It is essentially the metric for how loose an opponent is playing.
Run is a stat which shows how the session is going for the player. If a player has lost several hands in a row they are running cold, if they win three hands in a row they are on 'fire'. This stat does not give any indication whether the player is playing well or getting lucky.
Aggression Frequency is a measure of whether a player has been limping and calling, or betting and reraising. A player can be passive, normal or aggressive.
The number of witnessed hands played in the session is also displayed on the HUD.
Players can deactivate the HUD in the iPoker settings and can also configure the HUD to give more personalised values for the three metrics that are tracked.
Third party HUDs have long been a controversial topic in poker. Some consider them cheating or at least bad optics for the game, others point out that they simply reduce the disadvantage mass multitablers invite onto themselves. Many operators have banned HUDs and it appears now that we have a new trend of operators making their own HUDs to meet all viewpoints somewhere in the middle.
