More hints of a potential WSOP dealer shortage
Two partner casinos are closing their poker rooms during the series, seemingly to ensure there are enough dealers at the WSOP.
The bumpy ride that is the 2021 World Series of Poker has for some time been rumoured to be facing dealer shortages. Last week it appears those rumours had substance.
Caesars Entertainment will be shutting two of its other Las Vegas poker rooms, Bally's and the Flamingo, between September 26 and November 26. While no official word has come from Caesars, it would appear this is to free up more dealers for the WSOP which takes place during that time.
Dealer shortages have been talked about for a while, just like the global issue of skill shortages in many areas since the start of the pandemic. The first real signs this was an issue was when it was revealed dealers at the WSOP are not required to be vaccinated like players are.
Dealers are being encouraged to get vaccinated, as Caesars are offering them $250 to get the jab as well as being entered into a $25,000 raffle. Dealers are required to wear masks regardless of vaccination status.
The World Series of Poker starts this week on September 30.
