WPT Macau announced

High Rollers will have an alternative to Las Vegas in the middle of June with the announcement of the first ever World Poker Tour event in Macau.

For many years Macau has been deemed the new Las Vegas because of its generous offering of high stakes games. It has never had a major tour visit, until now.

The World Poker Tour has just announced the first ever WPT Macau for later this year, taking place at the Wynn Macau.

It will boast a KH$40,000 Main Event between June 20-24 as well as a HK$200,000 WPT High Roller between June 19-20.

The real curiosity is those dates, the whole festival takes place between June 18-24 - right in the middle of the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Is this an event designed for local players in mind, or an attempt to take some of the high rollers out of Sin City for a week?

This is the second WPT event in Southeast Asia after the debut of WPT Cambodia at the start of 2024.

“Macau has long been a sought-after destination for us, wanting to deliver the WPT experience to the region,” said Adam Pliska, WPT CEO. “Thank you to AGAE and Wynn Macau for helping us expand our global footprint. We look forward to an incredible event.”

Will this poach some players from Las Vegas during the WSOP? Let us know in the comments:
