Bokkie: "The WSOP is the Most Important Tournament in The World For Me"
In our interview, Dutch Team PokerStrategy.com member, Bokkie talks about everything from the WSOP to Black Friday. Keep reading to find out why he loves Vegas, what events he plans on playing and why he's not worried about the future of online poker.
PokerStrategy.com: Hey Bjorn, thanks for meeting with us today. Tell us what you think of the WSOP in general.
bokkie: The WSOP is the most important tournament in the world for me. Winning a bracelet has more value than an EPT or WPT title.
Not to mention the WSOP takes place in Las Vegas and that’s my favourite city. Poker, gambling, alcohol and strip clubs are what a man needs! (laughs)
PokerStrategy.com: What are your expectations for this year's WSOP?
bokkie: I'm hoping for a bracelet - maybe even more than one. But that’s not realistic at all, so my goal is to at least reach a final table.
I also hope to make some cashes here and there, but then again, who doesn't?!
PokerStrategy.com: Which WSOP events are you planning on playing this year?
bokkie: PLO is my speciality, so I will definitely play all 5k + Pot Limit Omaha and Pot Limit Omaha 8 or better tournaments. I'll also play all 5k and 10k No Limit Hold'em tournaments.
PokerStrategy.com: How did Black Friday personally affect you?
bokkie: Black Friday affected me because I played the low/midstakes PLO8 SNGs and there were a lot of Americans playing those games. Ever since Black Friday, there aren't very many of those games running anymore.
Apart from that, I think the effects for the European players are not that bad... as long as you’re not playing on one of the sites that is broke (or will be broke soon).
PokerStrategy.com: How do you see online poker evolving during the next few years?
bokkie: There are a lot of things that can happen to the future of online poker, so I’m not really thinking about it a lot.
Of course I hope online poker will exist forever and that the American players will come back soon, but that probably will take a long time. Still, I think it will be possible to beat online poker for quite some time, so until then, I’m not really going to worry about it.
