World champ attacked

News broke yesterday that 2010 World Series of Poker champion Jonathan Duhamel has been having a rough week.

Duhamel was the victim of an invasion and subsequent attack at his home in Boucherville, Quebec, Canada early on Wednesday morning.

Reports suggest that Duhamel was taken to hospital but later released. A police spokesman described the crime not as one of "kidnapping, but of aggression. He was a victim of assault. He was wounded."

No arrests have been made yet and the investigation continues.

A bad week for the former world champ

High stakes corner

The past 24 hours have seen more swings from Viktor "Isildur1" Blom. The main attraction at the high stakes tables parted with just over $20,000 at the PLO games before losing $75,000 over a series of $5000 heads-up SNGs.

The best result of the day was posted by PLO expert "mTw-DaviN" who banked an impressive $102,592 according to HSDB.

Yesterday's biggest loser was "L0ve2playU" who dropped $115,800 on the day.

Ivey's divorce gets messier

It hasn't been the greatest year for Phil Ivey. The man widely recognised as the greatest player on the planet has seen Full Tilt Poker collapse, endured a summer without the WSOP, and now is in the midst of a turbulent divorce.

According to the Las Vegas Sun, things just got a whole lot worse as Mr Ivey's ex, Luciaetta has sued Ivey and the two attorneys that had represented the couple on the grounds that "they conspired to cheat her out of her fair share of his fortune."

The Iveys were divorced in 2009 but new evidence has made Luciaetta "aware of the anomalies in how her divorce was handled."

PartyPoker rake-free tournaments this January

There's good news for tournament players over at PartyPoker. Party announced this week they will be abolishing all fees on all MTT tournaments for the whole month of January.

This means that 100% of your money will go straight into the prize pool, with no fees to pay across the whole multi-table tournament schedule from 00:00 ET, 1 January 2012 to 23:59 ET, 31 January 2012.
