Daily Rewind: WPT Montreal latest, Odd_Oddsen's political battle, Smith pranked

Today we catch up with the latest WPT action from Montreal, look forward to a political showdown and prank Gavin Smith.

It took six hours and 41 eliminations to bring Day 3 of this year's WPT Montreal Main Event to a close last night. Having welcomed back 59 hopefuls and a chip leader in the form of Ludovic Lacay on Tuesday, the organisers were soon tasked with balancing the tables as a slew of pros hit the rail.

With chips flying and seats emptying, Lacay wasn't able to cling onto his chip lead but he did manage to survive the session and outlast the likes of Mark Radoja, Darren Elias and Guillaume Darcourt.

With the penultimate session on the horizon and just 18 players left, Sylvain Siebert managed to edge his way to the top of the end-of-day leaderboard ahead of Derrick Rosenbarger (2,875,000) thanks to a 2,947,000 chip haul.

Also still in contention on Day 4 is JonathanLittle, Griffin Benger and model Lily Kiletto.

Earlier this year Ola 'Odd_Oddsen' Amundsgard set out to prove that poker is a game of skill by challenging a group of Norwegian politicians to a $170,000 heads-up match.

After offering the men in power a 10,000 hands freeroll, Amundsgard was able to find a willing participant in Erlend Wiborg. Following a round of negotiations, the match will now take place this Saturday inside Oslo's Felix Conference Centre.

The duel will be played on PokerStars, but spectators are also being invited to the venue to watch the politically significant match take place.

A number of high profile players will be watching the showdown, including Andreas 'Skjervoy' Torbergsen. 

Gavin Smith punked

Gavin Smith might be game for a laugh when he's at the poker table, but it seems that away from the felt he's not always so jovial.

The recent subject of an impromptu prank by EpicFive TV, Gavin and his associate didn't seem too impressed with a request by the show's host to "smell [his] armpit".

Douglas 'WCGRider' Polk continued his positive 2013 with a $188,529 win in the last 24 hours. In addition to pushing his annual profit to $322,830, Polk's latest haul was enough for him to top the latest high stakes leaderboard ahead of Chris 'Genius28' Lee ($72,152) and 'n0d1ceb4by' ($64,193).

Failing to capitalise on Monday's winning session, Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom slumped to another six-figure loss on Tuesday. Coming over the course of 1,286 hands, the Swedish pro's overall loss totalled $237,839.
