Negreanu wins $50k then urinates on Twitch
KidPoker is making waves (and splashes) with his new Twitch feed.
As headlines go, that was a fun one to write.
We brought you the news last week that Daniel Negreanu has joined Twitch. After his second outing on the streaming site he became a fan favourite.
At the time of writing he is already up to 14,820 likes and 229,891 views on the site, which already makes him a contender for Jason Somerville's crown.
On Sunday, for his second broadcast, he treated fans to a session of $400/$800 Mixed Games, where he proceed to win $50,000. This already makes it one of the biggest poker wins recorded on the site.
As he did battle with players like Luke Schwartz and Ben Sulsky, he casually treated fans to impressions of Scotty Nguyen and Jason Somerville.
Normally when Twitch broadcasters need to go for a bathroom break, they excuse themselves and leave their viewers staring at an empty chair for five minutes. However, KidPoker either could not stand to leave his fans hanging or is some sort strange type of exhibitionist, because he took his laptop to the bathroom with him and went number one (off camera) live on air.
The potential of Twitch grows
Most poker fans might have assumed Negreanu would not suit the Twitch format, given that it is widely regarded as an online gamer format. However, in hindsight Twitch and Daniel Negreanu might just be a marriage made in poker heaven.
Whatever your views on him, it is hard to deny he is a natural in front of a camera, a genuine entertainer and the fact he is not afraid to speak his mind could make KidPoker a Twitch icon.
His first Twitch outing was on the Play Money games at Pokerstars. This was due to him being in the United States at the time, but from a marketing perspective it is still a fantastic way to bridge Twitch's gaming audience and poker.
Now with the news that Phil Hellmuth is set to join the platform, it looks like the potential of Twitch in the poker industry continues to grow.
In other Twitch news, Liv Boeree joined the site last night and already has over 17,000 views.
