CrownUpGuy Wins WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas
Germany's Fedor Holz beats a 45 strong field to win the Alpha8 title in Vegas and take home over $1.5 million.
PokerStrategy.com community member Fedor "crownupguy" Holz fully confirmed his arrival on the poker scene and capped a remarkable year after beating the some of the game's elite on his way to collecting $1,589,219 for taking the final table at the WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas.
In what was the German's biggest score to date, he saw off some esteemed competition to take the pot and bring his live career earnings so far to just over $3.8 million. Alongside his winnings from the weekend, Holz also receives a $10,000 pre-loaded solid gold MasterCard from Aurae and a Hublot Oceanographic 4000 watch.
Deep Stack
The final super high roller event of the year, with a $100,000 buy-in, took place on Sunday at Vegas' Bellagio Resort & Casino and attracted a field of 45 of the world’s biggest high rollers, including Daniel Negreanu, Nick Petrangelo and Sean Winter, all helping to generate an overall prize pool of $4,414,500.
Holz started the third and final day's play in possession of the majority of the chips, roughly 40 percent of the total in play, and, despite the company he was in, never saw his stack deplete and entered the heads up with a two-to-one chip advantage over his opponent, eventual runner-up Nick Petrangelo.
After four and a half hours of play in total, Holz won in 106 hands, leaving his American opponent with the consolation prize of $1,015,335 for his second place finish.

22 year old Holz's profile has risen steadily over the past year after a string of big results that began in September last year when he won the 2014 World Championship of Online Poker for more than $1.3 million.
Even before his success at the weekend crownupguy had been confirmed to take part in the highest buy-in event in the WPT history, the WPT National Philippines $200,000 Triton SHR Series - Cali Cup in early January next year.
