Adrian Mateos wins EPT Grand Final
A WSOPE and EPT Championship title for the 20-year-old from Spain.
An eleven-year drought for Spain in the European Poker Tour was ended last night when Adrian Mateos took down the EPT Grand Final.
Mateos won the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event in 2013 for €1 million and has followed that up with a €1,082,000 score in Monte Carlo.
Mateos now has an Estrellas Poker Tour, European Poker Tour and World Series of Poker Europe title, despite not being old enough to play in the WSOP in Las Vegas yet. He turns 21 in July.
He beat Muhyedine Fares heads-up at a final table that included Johnny Lodden and Ole Schemion. Schemion himself is only 22-years-old and was in the rare position of not being the only very young player with a plethora of high profile tournament results to his name.
That ends the current season of the European Poker Tour. The new season begins in August in Barcelona.
