Aguiar Wins Event #5, Hellmuth, Negreanu and Elky Deep In The Main Event
Jonathan Aguiar is the newest WSOPE champion and runner up Brandon Cantu is not happy about it. The main event is down to 77 with plenty of big names remaining and the super high roller starts today.

Jonathan Aguiar wins Event #5 - It is finally over. The delayed heads-up match between Jonathan Aguiar and Brandon Cantu took place yesterday after both men were eliminated from the Main Event the previous day.
The title went to Jonathan Aguiar and his opponent was not happy about being forced to delay this showdown for the Main Event. You can see from his PokerNews interview below just how angry Cantu was. Since the interview was filmed, both men struck a deal to play a heads-up match for the difference between 1st and 2nd place prize money.
Sergii Baranov takes charge - Back to the Main Event and leading the pack by quite some margin on Day 2 was Russian player Sergii Baranov with 607,000. Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu and Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier all managed to hold onto their big stacks from Day 1b.
Plenty of big names are coming back to face the bubble, as 77 survived and 48 will get paid today. Still in contention are Dan Smith, Jason Mercier, David Benyamine, Liv Boeree, Sam Trickett, Justin Bonomo, Tobias 'pokernoob' Reinkemeier and Philip 'philgruissem' Gruissem.
Early exits - With such a stacked field it was no surprise that plenty of big names fell on Day 2, including Roberto Romanello, Scotty Nguyen, Joe Hachem, Phil Ivey, Mike McDonald, Antonio Esfandiari and Vanessa Rousso.
Today is the start of the only major non-bracelet event of the series, the €51,000 unlimited re-buys Majestic Super High Roller event.
